I ended up purchasing four of these M12 Impacts for myself from Standard Manufacturing. 3 of the rifles have the appropriate matching serial numbers on the receiver and the bolt. One does not and the serial numbers are not even close (over 2000 off). Obviously, somewhere between the manufacturer and the distributer, someone was messing with bolts and got them switched. I talked with Mauser-USA and they confirmed that each bolt is head-spaced individually and, by German law, serial numbers are checked by the proof house. Thus far, Standard has not been helpful. A call yielded a "send an email to the tech team at [email protected]". I called two different numbers, and all were answered by the same dude with a foreign accent. My last call to a third number was answered by a woman (who I suspect was sitting right next to the foreign-accent guy) and she said the same thing about an email to the tech team. I asked for a number for the tech guys and she said there wasn't one. Not promising.

Has everyone checked their numbers on the bolts and receivers? Maybe I have your bolt and maybe you have mine?!?! I can only hope that it would be that easy.
Surely that is enough for them to take that mismatched gun as a return . A return that won’t cost you anything out of pocket
Yikes. Didn't even think to check on a new gun. That's now on tonight's to do list. 😓
Uh...why don’t you just check it for headspace? I doubt that it will be out of specs? If it isn’t, you don’t have a problem.
Guarantee it will draw attention if he ever wants to sell it!

Why? It’s a $499 rifle. A Mauser M12 with a mismatched bolt that’s still within specs isn’t worth $499? Really?
Who stocks extractors and firing pins?
I didn't even think to check mine. I will and will follow up on this thread.

Ha! I checked mine and they don’t match. For that matter the numbers on the firing cocking piece and bolt shroud don’t either.
Was this why they were a great deal?

Doubtful as the four I bought all have matching numbers.
Check headspace and rock on.

Yeah, I’m not worried about it.
Joe Bob, I sent you a pm.
Shroud and cocking piece don't match. Close but off by 20. Will check bolt and receiver in next couple days when they get back from H&M.
I don’t think any parts other than the bolt and receiver are serial numbered (serial number should start with the letters “mc”). I’m not sure what those numbers are on the shroud or cocking piece. Like I said in my first post, the 3 others I bought from Standard have matching receiver and bolt serial numbers. Also, I have an M12 in 30-06, and the bolt and receiver hav matching numbers, with random number markings on the shroud and cocking piece, but none of those markings start with “mc”, like the serial numbers.
Good to know, Bethel. Thanks for the clarification.
Also, as for Standard, given my phone interaction with the offive guy, I highly doubt they were switching out bolts. He could barely answer questions about caliber.
Id return a gun with mismatched parts sold as new .

I’m trying. Believe me. Getting the run around right now.
If you paid with a credit card , I’d return that rifle with a note . Get signature required by recipient. Tell credit card company to take it off your account.

They might find the correct bolt then but probably not. You’d assume that other gun had your bolt in it. But who knows
Even Remington isn’t that fugged up!
A lot can happen in a 100 years.
Ok so I’m confused, talked with Mauser yesterday and they called bs on the matched serial numbers. This was Mauser USA btw. I spoke to Yim and she said that’s normal so who knows.

Mauser said that the vendor should accept the return of a rifle with mismatched #s or said that mismatched #s are normal? (I'm assuming you called Blaser USA?)
The OP could publish the number of his bolt here in the hopes of that rifle's owner contacting him.

Or would that be too logical?

Yeah I called yesterday, she said it’s fine but why do some match and some don’t, again who knows. Mine happen to match. I think it would be interesting to know what Mauser DE Germany had to say about it.
I better check mine. If it's different I'll just check the heads pace. If the headspace is OK I'll be ok. If the number is off I'll post it here and see if it's a match for someone else. They did finally send me the scope rail for mine and I'm getting over the fact it wasn't threaded. I'll see how it shoots and maybe have it threaded 5/8 24 later if there's enough meat for that.

It's still a good deal just not the great deal I thought it was. I picked up a Sauer 100 in 6.5 Creedmoor and another in 6.5 prc a few months ago too so I'm looking forward to some range weather.

My receiver is mc011943. My bolt is mc009319.

As I said in the first post, I talked with someone in Mauser/Blaser and they told me they should absolutely match and they wouldn’t make it past the proof house if they didn’t.
My serial numbers match on my new 308 Impact and my recently purchased 30-06 Extreme.

I love this impact more than any rifle I have ever bought.

I am about there as well. Before the numbers issue, not knowing, mine did this. It turns out that all four I bought have matching numbers. A trip out with it yesterday with a new scope and load was no different.

I just checked mine. Numbers match. It's in the same s/n range as the rest of them we all just grabbed.

My serial numbers match. There are a few different numbers on the bolt so you have to make sure you're looking at the right one. The one that matches on mine is right above where the handle attaches to the bolt.

Great shooting Edm

165's are what I want to feed mine
Mine matches as well. Would love to know the story with the mismatched ones.
Standard Manufacturing still has some good deals, but with no after sale service, there's no way I'll order from them.
So far, mine is the only one with a mismatch. Despite Standard claiming that it came to them directly from Mauser like that, I'm sending it back and they are accepting the return (though I'm footing the bill for shipping). JoeBob, the only other one in this thread to say he had a mismatch, confirmed via PM that after closer inspection his do, in fact, match. So, my mismatch is the only one we know of at this point. Good thing I ordered 3 others and they all match.
The plethora of numbers on the bolt confused me. There are two other serial number-like numbers on the bolt.
