What are your thoughts on the Ruger American “Go Wild”? Looking to get one in 30-06.

Loved the two I owned. I liked them so much that when I find one in .243 or 6 Creedmoor I'm nabbing it.

Is there a cool gun or knife you don't own?

Have one chambered for 6.5 CM. Shoots very well, 3 touching at 100 yds with 127 LRX at 2862 fps. Only thing I changed, replaced the brake with a thread protector and a 5 round magazine.

Looks like that sled and gun are about to take a ride to the concrete floor.

My only complaint about those RARs is they don't make any of the cool ones in a LH version.

I have the LH Predator in 6.5 CM. Damn it shoots.

I have owned 5 predator models and all shoot great.

I have been working with the short ones.
First a 300 BO. Just working with it a little, it would go sub MOA.
I was planning on this being a deer rifle for the wife to hunt from elevated stands with. Shots normally 100 yards and closer. Doing research I decided that the 7.62x39 version at the gun shop should get about an extra 200 fps over the 300 BO. So I did a trade. My reasoning was that an extra 200 fps was not a bad thing on a marginal deer cartridge. I decided to see just what the 7.62x39 was capable of. I installed a 20X Super Sniper with a Anti-Cant Device (Bubble Level) and loaded up some Speer 130 grain HP bullets over Shooters World Blackout Powder Ignited with Federal Large Rifle Magnum BR primers. I did a little brass prep chamfering the flash holes, and headed to the range. My first load was past where I was hoping to go velocity wise. I fired 3 shots to get on a 2.5 x 2.5 Post it Note, and another 3 to get pretty well centered. I had a fairly still wind blowing from behind me. But I decided to try for a group anyway. The wind had been blowing pretty much every day for a while. I put the first 4 into around .75 then the next two shots went right to the edge of the post it note touching. That messed up my five round group.
The following morning the wind was not blowing much at all. I again headed to the range with my old Wichita rest and rear squeeze bag. I should also mention that I had previously swapped out the trigger spring for a stiff ball point pen spring. The trigger screw was also backed off a turn and a half or so. The trigger was light enough that I am going to turn it up some before letting the wife shoot it.
I was taking my time shooting the best group that I could. I fired a three shot group with all bullet holes touching. I could have fired a five shot group, but why risk messing up a group like that. The barrel is floated, the trigger is great, and it will shoot .308 bullets way better than expected. I have a Leupold 2.5X Ultralight scope to mount on it and sight in now.

The next project will be the 5.56 version that I bought the same day I traded for the 7.62x39. The plan will be the same. Install the 20X Super Sniper and see what it will do. I have not fired it so far, but I have worked the trigger over. I also discovered the forend was touching the barrel on the left and I addressed this with some sand paper. I believe the twist is 1 in 8 so it should shoot about anything up to possibly 77 grain on the heavy end. I have not decided on what bullets to use so far. I have 50, 55, and 60 grain Hornady V-Max bullets. I also have an assortment of Sierra to include 69 and 77 SMK's and Nosler's I could try out.

My experience with the 300BO and the 7.62x39 is that with just a little tweaking they will shoot way better than they should for what they cost.
