He just wondering thoughts on the Christensen arms Mesa Rifles

I seen one yesterday and held one for the first time
It seems very nice
lightweight
well machined
uses 700 mounting hardware
of course sub MOA guarantee

The one I held was 308
my first impression was good

Your thoughts?

I almost bought one until I found out that they charge another $250 for a left hand Mesa. The right handed Mesa that I held in the gunshop had a very nice trigger and the rifle felt great.

Hate the stocks and believe they are over priced for what they are. If they were in the 750.00 to 800 range, I would get one.

It seems like a bit for the LH version

Not sure how they justify that much

I am not sure why they would charge extra, much less that amount, for a left-hander over the right-hand rifle.

If the Mesa is as good as the Ridgeline, just pay the money and smile.

I paid the $250 lefty tax.

I’ve got a LH Mesa in 6.5cm.

I like it.

I like the thin grip on the stock. Some don’t.

Break it down, IMO you get a lot for the price.

Fiberglass stock.
Side bolt release action.
Threaded barrel w/ break. ( maybe a cap? )
Triggertech trigger
Cerakoted.

I have one in 6.5 PRC and am happy with it after a trip back to the factory for an ejector repair (sourced a bad batch of springs.) The stock ergos are different, but fine with me. The gun is pleasantly accurate. Mine is not terribly light. Would I do it again? I can't really say at this point. I can say that I don't regret it.

I provided Christensen very direct feedback on their contact form regarding not offering standard cartridges like 270 and 30-06 in their left hand rifles. And regarding the $250 uopcharge for Left Hand rifles. With CAD / CAM programs, and CNC machining, it should only be 2 or 3 clicks to make a mirror image part / tool path. Actually received a very nice / polite reply from a young man. He indicated that they were trying to make the 'popular" chamberings available first. Totally stepped around / avoided the issue of the $250 upcharge for Left Hand action

I liked the ergos of the RH Mesa and Ridgeline that I handled at Whittakers before the 'Rona. However, not sure I would spend the upcharge for LH...

i would guess that Christensen makes left handed actions in batches, they probably don't sell a lot of them tobegin with and their may be quite a bit of down time to "retool" the shop to make the actions as well as the stocks.

Try building one and selling it for 750-800.

Seriously???

How in the hell can you build a rifle with the features the Mesa has for $750-800? Cheap ass plastic rifles damn near cost that much.

Don't need to, I can buy a Tikka that does the same thing for less!

Nice rifles. Heck of a deal. My 6.5 creed is a good shooting rifle.

Nice deflection when you know you are wrong. The fact that you said they were overpriced and should sell for less when you know the component cost would be more then the idiotic price you mentioned 750-800. Don't throw Tikka into the equation , they can show up custom rifles 3 x their price rather easily.
