A friend was looking to sell his rifle (700 DM 30.06) as he doesn't hunt anymore. I've never been a Remington guy but he'd put some money into it the action, trigger, fluting, and a brake. The scope was junk so I yarded that off and put a spare Leupy on it. Hopefully it's a good shooter, but for $450 (with 200rds of range ammo) I don't think I'll get hurt if I have to send it. My son is ready to put it to use caribou hunting this fall.
Nice rifle and your son looks more than ready to go with it !!!
Ptarmigan: That Rifle looks almost as good as that son!
Good for you and for your son to.
The tried and true 30/06 cartridge is simply wonderful in so many ways.
Best of luck to the young Hunter when he gets after the Caribou.
Hold into the wind

LOL! His hair all of a sudden got curly this year, plus he just took off his hat. He's overdue for a cut as we just got back from a 2 week vacation. He's begging for the barber! Haha!
He'll be able to hand that rifle down to his child one day.
Good deal and a fine looking young man. He'll get a long way with that rifle. Have fun on that hunt.

Outstanding. Good luck to you and your son on that first caribou hunt.

Yep, X3
Good for you and your son on picking the 30-06. Was so afraid you were going to say Creedmore.
Happy hunting !
Well 1 thing though I'd sure not waste anytime finding
an extra mag. Allways should have a backup mag for dm guns.
He is well prepared! Congrats to you both.
GreggH
Well he's ready for anything he wants to hunt up there. You did good, dad!!!
Nic work pard. Good lookin boy too. đ
Good luck to him and his new rifle.
That is one heck of a score!
Killer deal for a great gun. Time to get after it!
Have 2 of those Remingtons in the family - they're pretty decent and do the job just fine.
Please make sure he doubles up on the hearing protection.
Score! I hope he makes meat and a lot of memories with it.
Nice gun, send the bolt off to accu-tig in fairbanks before hunting season.
Please make sure he doubles up on the hearing protection.
Plus one on the above. That kid is set for life with that setup, well done dad.
Cut off the brake and you got one heck of a good rifle. If you don't cut it off make sure he wears really good ear protection as it will be LOUD!!
Yeah, I'd get a thread protector for sure. No brakes for me on hunting rifles.
My cousin got one of the early SS BDL 30-06 rifles that Remington put out in the first part of the 90's. He won't use anything else and has killed a lot of really good bucks over the last 25 years, near and far. All his needed was a trigger tweak and boxes of Federal Premium Gameking 165 ammo.

We shot it today wearing good ear protection. I'll probably spin the brake off before we go out again. It came with a thread protector anyways, so no big deal there. Was quite pleasant to shoot though.
Well, the 30.06 with 150gr Fusions did the trick. He wasnât too picky after a couple days and decided he wanted to take this meat bull. 180yds kneeling using his shooting sticks. Dropped it like it got hit by a bolt of lightning.
Thatâs a fine rifle and you got a heck of a deal!
Looks like it did the trick. Congratulations to him and you.
Nice work.
I see you got him a hat big enough to cover those curlsđ
Congrats on the meat bull and you stole that rifle! Heck of a deal for you and your son!
The only problem with that setup is that he'll never need another rifle.
Well done, both of you.
Okie John
Nice rifle and 'bou, technically he will never need another, but what fun is that
Nice! Good score right there.
I wouldnât cut the brake off but would replace it with a suppressor

It's just threaded on, so no big deal there. We wear hearing protection when we shoot, so even with it being there it's not a big deal. Keep them right around the neck so they're easy to put in. Generally speaking we have plenty of time to set up a shot. A suppressor would be nice if they weren't priced far higher than they should be, and dealing with getting a stamp. That whole process is BS.
Thatâll do!
You got a deal on that sucker.
Good deal and an excellent first rifle. You might consider removing the earsplitting muzzle brake and replacing it with a knurled thread protector.
I just saw this thread and was hoping as I read down you were going to say he didnât like the rifle. I am sitting in Anchorage right now and was going to let you make some money on it

Thereâs no chance of him giving it up now!

As it should be! Nice job and nice memories with your boy!
