Anyone here bought one and shot it? I've got a Mesa Precision Altitude, and a stainless T3X chambered in 243 Win. The stock has a Sendero barrel channel.

I'm thinking about pulling the 243 bbl and making this into a really nice 20 inch 308 Win.

If anyone has purchased one of these, let me know what you think, and how hard/easy it was to swap out. I have my own action wrench and barrel vise.

I just don't want to drop $800 plus on a bbl and be disappointed!

I've looked at other carbon barrels, and do not want a barrel nut. I like the clean look of a shoulder.

Also, are there any other pre fits worth looking at?

Thanks
Are you worried the barrel won't be accurate, headspacing, or other? They make great barrels

I guess I'm wondering, if it's just that easy to swap out with headspacing being correct. I think that I'm really not thinking about accuracy. Are Tikka actions and bolts THAT consistent? I guess they are, if they are offering per fit barrels. Time to roll the dice, I guess! Lol
Yes Tikka actions and bolts are that consistent. If they were not companies would not offer shouldered barrels.
I had a Proof Research stainless steel pre-fit barrel put on one of my Tikka T3X Lites. My gunsmith told me his no-go gauge would go into the chamber. He said that could be just as easily the tolerances in his guage as the barrel. He set it back one turn. The barrel immediately put 3 shots into half an inch at 100 yards consistently with the load I wanted to use.
swapped enough factory and aftermarket barrels on tikkas to trust the process

that said it will doesn't hurt to run a false shoulder to assure positive head space control
proofs are real decent but unless you need the bling, the stainless 308 factory barrels will do just fine and weigh the same if not a touch less then the carbon one

That's what I'm wondering. What, if any, is the gain? Tikka barrels are usually quite accurate. A guy wants to put $800.00 into a $500.00 rifle and then what does he gain?

Yep, every Tikka that I own, including the 243 donor is very accurate. What I gain is putting together exactly what I want to shoot. I'm sure that more than a handful here can say the same. That's why all of these aftermarket companies exist. Lol

Its your money man. And your problem, when it comes time to sell it. Good luck with your venture..
Some of those Tikka barrels can be a real bitch to get off. I've had to relieve the threads on 2 so far

First time seeing “clean look” and “carbon barrel” in the same paragraph.
