Looks like a nice rifle, kind of like an "Entry Bergara B14" or Franchi Momentum category. I read where its trigger can be adjusted in the 2-4# range. I don't particularly care for the "bladed Savage styles Accutriggers" on any centerfire", so a bare trigger appeals to me. I've read some Online reviews, but just looking for field/range experience with it... thanks guys. Jim
I stopped by Sportsmans Warehouse and got to handle one of these Cascades. It was in Creedmoor. Very nice rifle. Has a barrel made by Bergara, handles/fits very well. It was handy, felt lively in the hands (not like a Howa or Venture for sure) trigger is adjustable too. $600 bucks. Possibilities....:)
I handled one at Walmart, seems now that Remington is in stasis CVA is getting their foot into the Walmart door. Definitely not a flyweight, camo pattern OK, price not bad.
I have handled a few of these and they seem to me to be just another Ruger American type price point bolt action rifle, I'd say like the rest of these rifles they are accurate though đź‘Ť......Hb
Used one in 350 legend for a Ohio hunt

It was accurate. I was expecting rough fit and finish. It was actually fairly refined.

I was happy with it and could see myself buying one
I seriously looked at buy one in July in 6.5 PRC. I own Ruger Americans and I would buy the CVA Casacde before I bought another Ruger American. A lot smoother action. But they were a tad heavier than I expected though. I still may end up buying one as it’s a little cheaper than the Tikka I like in 6.5 PRC.
I have yet to see one in the shops around me.
I handled one in local LGS, actually looks and feels like a real rifle compared to some of the other budget price stuff out there.
I just bought my second. Good rifles, accurate, truly flush magazine, GREAT trigger. They are a definite step up from the Savage/Ruger American class of rifles.
I purchased one in 450 Bushmaster late last year. It shot great groups with three different handloads. I have yet to try it out on whitetails.
Bumping this back up, hoping that more people have had a chance to handle or shoot these. I'm particularly interested in the SB version.
I have two. First one is a black stock wilt blued steel model in 450 BM. Just got my second which has the camo stock with cerakote steel in 350 Legend. I like both stocks but like the feel of the camo “soft feel” better. Actions are smooth, fit and finish is good, triggers are great.

These are now my favorite centerfires to shoot and I’ll probably sell the two 308’s I have and replace them with a cascade in 308 of course. And I may end up buying some other calibers too. Wouldn’t mind them in 243, 6.5cm, 22-250 and 6.5 prc, not necessarily in that order… I don’t see the 300win mag or 7mm Rem mag in my future.

But yeah, I love these rifles. Have kind of settled on a load for the 450 but still working on the 350. Cast bullets for each, pistol powder and small pistol primers. I’ll also shoot cast bullets in the 308 using Lapua small primer brass with spp’s. Yeah, I have lots of small pistol primers and it allows me shoot these guns as much as I want. I have about 500 rounds through the 450 and only about 75 through the 350 but I’m just getting started with it.

Thank you. How does the stock feel? Is it fairly ridgid? Well shaped?
I have one in a 350 legend this year with the new straight wall cartridge rules here in MD and it shoots great and the trigger is great easy to adjust no creep , action is tight and smooth all around im very happy with it

Feels very solid, like wood with a softer feel. It’s well shaped for me and they are the best “feeling” guns in my safe. Of course, in my humble opinion. These are much better feeling than Savage Axis and TC Compass stocks. Probably on par or a little better than TC Venture and as solid but a softer feel than my CZ 557 American Synthetic. I also like them better than my Rem 700 stock.

I bought my 350 from Sportsman Warehouse and they had 3 on the rack. Saw one in a Dunhams but it was priced higher than retail. So, they are out there. Take one off the rack and feel it, I’d be surprised if you didn’t like it.

I’ve been shooting cast bullets only in mine, just plinking loads. I didn’t need a hunting rifle but this looked really fun to reload for and shoot. The 350 is kind of what I was expecting. I was expecting the Cascade to be good and it is. I almost bought something else in 350 and I’m glad I didn’t.
Its awesome man and does a number on deer too
Found a Cascade in 308 only two hours from me. Going to pick it up tomorrow.
The new 308 is now in my safe. I have 38 cast bullet loads to shoot tomorrow and XX number of some SST’s to see how good it will group compared to other 308’s I’ve had.

Trigger, action, cerakote finish, stock are all great and feels like my other two Cascades. Sticker on the bottom of the stock was a pita to get off. Note to CVA: Put a friggin plastic sticker on instead of crappy paper ones that come off in a thousand pieces! Love your rifle, hate your stickers.
A shop fairly close to me has some of these in stock and they have been on my to notice list in my brain for a while may have to step that up a tad
I have not but I hear they are heavy - what are actual opinions? Very curious myself. What is the mag length on LA/SA?
I bought a scout recently but the cascade does look intriguing
I'm looking for one if the SB variants in 300 BO, but they apparently only exist in the catalog so far.
Just got my 3rd one in 308 a week ago. All three have great triggers and smooth actions. Put 37 rounds through the 308 last Sunday and I’m loving it! They were all cast loads but I hope to shoot some jacketed loads soon.

I don’t know the weight of them but don’t consider them heavy. My CZ 557 American Synthetic is heavy, the Cascades are not.
They list at 6 lbs, 11 oz are they actually heavier than that or is that considered heavy?
My 350L (17 inch barrel) with YHM R9 can, Burris 3-9 and Talley lightweight rings come in just under 8 lbs. 308 SB with SWFA 10X and cheap SWFA rings weighs 8.5 lbs.

I wish they were a little lighter and slimmer but a good value.
Update: I saw one on a local AD. It was a brand new 6.5 PRC and three (3) boxes of Hornady 143 ELDX factory loads. He had previously ordered a new 6.8 Westerner from a LGS several months before. and they did not know when it would come in. They sold him this one in 6.5PRC and sweetened the pot with very discounted ammo. It was still in the box when he found (online) a store that DID have the 6.8 Westerner (Western?) I got the rifle/ammo for $650. I got its easily adjusted trigger to a solid 2# and put a Burris 3x9 FFII on it. I'm going to zero it this Friday. Will let you know. It feels typical Sorter Weight to me, maybe a tad lighter. Feels good in my hands too. I like it. Very Weatherized too.
I look forward to hearing how it performs.
Was able to go to the range, rifle shot pretty well. I put 15rds of the factory 143 ELD-X through the rifle. First few shots down the new barrel were kinda wonky. The more I shot the better it got. Barrel gets hot enough to walk if you go too fast. 3 shot groups were rounded, about 1 3/8". Likely more shooting will help. I'm going to load up some of the Hammer 124 HH and try next time. Overall, working the rifle action felt a bit "gummy", so to speak. Best I can describe it, but not gritty or rough. For a hunting rifle virtually unnoticeable. I'm sure more use will have it smooth out enough.
Thanks for the update. Hopefully, the handloads will tighten things up.
A guy sitting next to me had a brand new "Seekins" in 6.5 PRC, big Swarovski scope. After getting it zeroed, he shot a one hole 3 shot group, lol. But he got a "deal" on the rifle at the last Hunting Expo...$1500, not counting that $800+ Swarovski...different equipment, ha.
Well, got to the range again. I shot some 124 HH over VV N560 and a standard primer. I crimped them with a LEE FCD and set them .050 off the lands ( magazine length "might" allow them a tad longer). I ended just seating them 2.95". Anyhow, the midload went into about 2 1/2". Mild and Moderate both went wonky (5"+)
Its fine for just plain hunting with its factory load (under 300 yds anyway). I'm not sure if I'm going to sell it or not, it was just a good deal when I got it, ha. I still have 2 boxes of the 143 ELD-X factory for it. I'm still playing with higher priority projects. Its a good solid rifle though, can't complain, for the price.

Thank you for the follow up report.
You're most welcome my fine friend! I was not "really expecting" it to be a tack driver, but it did shoot the factory ammo OK. For the average starting out deer hunter, its a good deal. I expect it would shoot even tighter after the barrel has had more rounds through it too. A 400yd shooter it is not...at least this one isn't right now.
I would be tempted to get one IF the SB was offered in .350 Legend frown
The only rifle with a a money back guarantee. If you're not satisfied CVA will give you a refund. Sold plenty of them while I worked at SW. Never a complaint.
I purchased the short barrel .308 and shot it for the first time last week. It was 95 degrees and high humidity. I had been scouting for about three hours and really didn’t feel like shooting but needed to get the rifle sighted in.

I shot noth 130 TTSX and 130 Federal Bluebox hollow points. The rifle is the real deal. I got easy .75 inch groups off of a shoddy rest. I am confident that my particular Cascade is a half inch gun under better conditions and more importantly with a better rest.

Dan
The few Cascades I have been around are excellent shooters, my buddy has one in .300 Win that outshoots my Tikka T3 Superlite .300 Win and my rifle shoots pretty damn good...The Tikka has a smoother bolt cycle but I actually like the stock fit of his Cascade better...I would buy one for the same reason I keep a Tikka in my safe, as a rainy day rifle..Good luck....Hb
Did a side by side comparison with the Franchi Momentum Elite, and for the little bit more, the Franchi is well worth it.
What is the twist rate for the CVA Cascade in .223
I have a CVA “Cascade” 6.5 Creedmoor I purchased for $299.00 when our local Walmart sold all their firearms in stock at half price due to the fact they were no longer going to sell firearms. I purchased a bunch of Remington 700 SPS’s for $199.00 each. They had a CVA “Cascade” 6.5 CM. I figured what the heck.

I ran a load I shoot in one of my custom Creedmoor’s. The CVA shot right out of the gate. The barrel was incredibly smooth and cleans quick.

These are 100 and 200 yards groups. First mule deer it took was a high shoulder shot at 407 yards. The buck dropped at the shot. That 135gr Berger destroyed the lungs.

I sold mine to a young, single, man. As I told him, it "should" tighten up with more rounds down the barrel. I have seen alot of rifles like that through the years. Problem with the 6.5 PRC is ammo. "when" you can find it, its very expensive. But I sure do like the round, better than the Creedmoor. I like the 6.5/06 speeds of the 6.5 PRC. I also used a wildcat 6.5/284 for a couple seasons that was a lightening bolt on game! But I'm more Old School. I would love to have a 24" Browning Safari in 264 Win Mag...but I don't want to float a loan to buy one! ha

How does the brass look like after first firings? I ask (and I realize not everyone reloads) because the brass out of two B14's I reload for are pretty beat up. Others here at the Campfire have said the same. Spoken to Bagara about it. Their answer was if it shoots first time brass fine, they are not going to worry about it. I.E. they aren't supporting reloads for legal issues. I get that, I do. The chamber for these two rifles are really rough. So my question goes to the quality of the chamber since Bagara makes the barrels / cuts the chambers?
My brass looks fine.

After more use, I do like the Tikka better enough to be swapping my 308 out; it's about a lb lighter too. My 350 Cascade is a real keeper though.
I haven’t had any brass that looked poor after shooting in my 3 cascades but I’ve shot very little “full power” loads. Mostly light cast bullet loads. So, my brass looks fine but I haven’t been pushing it.
My brass was fine too.
Thinking about the brass some more… I shot some bone jarring loads out of the 450bm and some near max reloads from the 308 and all of the brass looked perfect.

Impressive groups! I guess I need to play around with my 308 to see what it will do…
I have a CVA Cascade SB in .223. The rifle is extremely accurate and I'm getting 0.5 MOA groups. HOWEVER, there is a big issue with feeding reliability. CVA sent me a new magazine as I thought this was the issue. Unfortunately I'm still having feeding issues. The magazine can hold 5 rounds, I am jamming constantly on the 3rd round. It seems that 3rd round gets pushed tip up and jams at the top of the receiver instead of smoothly going forward into the chamber.

Any thoughts?

This CVA magazine is also used for their 350 legend and 300 blackout rifles.
