I was looking for an extra 760 30-06 magazine and I see there’s quite a few 10 round magazines for about $30. But factory Remington magazines start at $100 and up to twice that and more.

Anyone have experience with the after market magazines? Granted, I am not fond of the 10 round large capacity magazines because I don’t want it sticking out below the receiver.

Anyone know of a reasonably priced factory magazine that’s in good shape?

I hadn't considered Remington exit from the market to cause an increase in those mags.

I can't help you as I am in Canada, but I have four of those factory mags in the parts box. Two 30-06 and two 308.

I’ve never dealt with an aftermarket 760 Mag that actually worked and I’ve had to fiddle with a few back when I was gunsmithing.

Bugger go to any LGS and ask if they have any mags in a parts bin. I've picked up a few in the last year and none were over $25. Same thing goes for Marlin Hammer spurs. It's amazing what the owners have squirreled away in bins and boxes just for the asking.

The Triple-K (unfortunate name) 10-round magazines are pretty decent, though I've found that they typically require a feed lip tweak to achieve the correct presentation angle for reliable feeding. They do stick out quite far and I can understand how someone may dislike that.

The really cheap 10-round magazines (identified by the round hole on each side of the magazine body) are trash. I bought two, neither functioned, I suspect I threw the things out. Avoid them and save your money.

My experience goes back . . . Yikes! It's at least 35 years. My buddy put a bug in my ear: a 10 round aftermarket mag could turn my Rem 742 into a "Poor Man's BAR." I tried two different mfgs. I never got through a whole mag without a jam and gave up.

My advice is to exercise patience. Eventually, somebody is going to figure out how to 3D print a working mag. I had the same sort of problem trying to find an aftermarket mag replacement for a Ruger American. It took 3 years until I found one. In the meanwhile, I had an engineer friend already looking at doing his own just for something to do with his home 3D printer.

The other possibility is that the newly reconstituted Remington Arms will resurrect the 7400/7600 series and start making mags again.

There are differences between a 74X and a 76X mag. The former has a bolt release. However, they all fit one another.

I’ll be keeping an eye out for an extra magazine. I suspect the only sales at $100 ea. Would go to a guy that has none.

The remington mags should be around $50. Where are you seeing them for $100?

You can also use the 740/742/7400 mags. But after you shoot the last round it will lock open.

$50 is what I paid a couple years ago.

I did a wtb last winter, bought a couple Remington branded mags for $40-50.

Still looking for one stamped 35 Remington and NO the M750 and 7400 short cartridge mags don't WORK. Mb

Yes it will.

The difference will be, when you shoot your last round you won't be able to close the bolt. It was designed for the semi-auto. So, it will hold the action open on the 740/742/7400 after the last round is ejected. There is a small lever on the side to push and release the spring to close the action.

But yeah....it'll work.

That I believe. Mags weren't Remingtons strong point.

Well hell the one stamped 243 that is an older 760 all steel mag works fine but does rub on the under side of the bolt not near as smooth as my 7600 270. Mb

Turn it upside down on a whetstone and take a little bit off of the feed lips.
