Just couldn't pass this one up.

Hit the 6" gong on the first three shots from the porch (97 yards) when I brought it in the door.... Will try to smack a doe with it after Thanksgiving I suppose.

NICE !!!! I wouldn't have passed on that one either.

Caliber?

Date code? Date code should be stamped on the left side of the barrel, right by the receiver and should be 3 letters, 2nd & 3rd letter should be the same, like YY.

Looks to be 1950's vintage. Great guns

Trying to get some more pictures up. Has a cloudy weaver k4 on it. Hoping that once I clean it up and adjust it that it will clear up some. Would like to keep the k4 on it.

Has a mount that flips to the side.

.300 savage. Sorry. Thought I had that in the initial post.

.300 Savage so it's gotta be 1950s I think. I haven't had a chance to look up the dates yet

Maybe you can see this.

Nice grab.

Date code appears to be "LA" which would be a Feb. 1954 manufacture date. and in a tather uncommon caliber. Great snag.

I'm not seeing the date code

Left side of the barrel by the receiver, you may need a magnifying glass. I had to copy the picture to my computer and enlarge it to see it.

Definitely a "LA" date code, the bottom legs of the "A" are not missing, they don't always stamp them perfectly.

Not a bad looking rifle. Better than the other 760s I've had

Very nice!

I had one just like that, swing out Weaver mounts and all. I sold it to a friend cheap so his son could have something to hunt with.

Very nice 👍 The old steel tube scope adds to the nostalgia factor a bit, too.

I bought a 760 in 300 Savage about the same condition and vintage when I was in FT Hood TX in the early 90s. Gave it to my Dad as a gift, but it "disappeared" before he passed away and nobody remembers anything

Sorry to hear of that
The same thing happened when my own father
passed. Guns, knives, tools, etc.
People are sorry a$$es
I wish I had been old enough to know what
was happening and who to deal with

I had one of those back in the mid-80's that I boarded at my parent's home while I was going to grad school in Boston. That was still-hunting and half-a$$ed tracking, IOW short range work often at moving targets. I loaded 170 grain Remington RNCL 30-30 bullets at around 2,600 fps. The higher velocity, higher than the Remington 30-30 factory loads with that bullet, made for rapid expansion and a signifcant exit wound with a noticeable blood trail.

I have the same rifle only they drilled is for a peep sight and added a pad. I have t shot it yet but I have about 500 brand new cases for it. So I can enjoy it for a long time.
Congrats on a nice rifle.

Bought a really mint m99f awhile back with a K4 60b series on it that came from vintage arms including the scope box which had a 499 price tag on it. Mb

Sadly, I passed up one of those a couple or three years ago, and I still regret that, even though I haven't got any need for it. It was ALMOST as nice as that one, that one is very nice indeed.
I probably should have bought it, but I've got enough deer rifles to outlast me, as is.
