Anybody got a line on what dealer may have one in stock. Anywhere?
These are mighty scarce in the stainless form, i have seen the cerakoted models with threaded barrels on GB but none if the stainless models.....Good luck...Hb
I looked for months, didn't find one
Might me a tough find but there’s one out there somewhere.

Trying to remember that store on Colorado , Elk mtn. Outfitters or something like that . They seem to have a decent selection of Model 70’s .
I try to google them but all I find is elk hunt outfitters.
I looked online for months two years ago and came up with none. Walked into LGS on a whim and there was one sitting there. I snatched it up and been glad since. My 3rd extreme weather, and my favorite.
Ah a glimmer of hope ! Just got to find it.
I'd buy one if I could find it but I think it will come down to bidding too much on Gunbroker or waiting years for supply to get better (while hoping they don't get discontinued in the meantime.)
I hope one comes up on gunbroker. Gunbroker Will have a happy seller. . Just missed one a week or so ago. Mistake on my part.
I look at stuff like that and say in ten years it won’t matter what I paid as long as it’s what I want. And no I’m not rich.

I just recently got a 99% Winchester Model 70 7mm Mauser Featherweight. 1982 gun basically new. I put in a bid and said to the wife if someone besides me wants it they are sure gonna pay for it. Got it actually cheaper than my 6.5x55 Featherweight.

Anyway didn’t say that to sound bragadocius, but I’m after one for sure.

Only thing about that gun I question is the 12 twist barrel vs. a 10 twist. This will be a traveling big game rifle. White tails and up.

12 will be fine

That was the standard at the beginning. If I had my druthers, I’d pick 10”, but I still bought one with the 12”.

I found mine at Oakland Guns in Arkansas. Have bought a bunch from them, including my Fieldcraft. Good folks, and they have a 10 month layaway too, so you can secure your gun and pay on it until you’re ready for it, or maybe keep it under wraps until you can negotiate it with the War Department.

I was pleasantly surprised by the fit and finish of mine. Feeds about as slick as the Fieldcraft.

Did you buy the one at Mahoneys? I had my eye on it for a while but never pulled the trigger.....Hb
I did!

They have a large turn-over on inventory, never know what you will see in there.

I’ve bought a lot of guns from Oakland Guns too for the same reasons you mentioned. You can’t beat a 10 month layaway with no fees and customer service has always been excellent including prompt emails with a current invoice as soon as I made a payment.
More hope! Please keep me in mind if anyone sees one FS. Thank you.

There is one out there. Just a matter of finding it.
The “place” I was thinking about was Elk County ammo and arms. In Pennsylvania.
No luck there. Dang it.
It’s not a Winchester model 70 Extreme Weather SS but I occasionally see Montana Rifle Company Xtreme X3 in .308 Winchester for sale as new old stock. I believe the idea behind the MRC Xtreme X3 was to make an upgraded Model 70 Extreme Weather SS. I see a few now NOS on Gunbroker chambered in 6.5 CM and an X2 in .308 Win.
Just another thought on this . I would also consider a “real” Kimber Montana in .308. By real I mean one with the good lightweight gray stock and not the plastic BS they wound up using later on.
My .325 is one of the “ good” ones from 2006. .

I’m not sure when they changed.

Montana has never gone to “plastic”. That is the hunter you are thinking of with the plastic (albeit a good one!) stock.
What rifle does Kimber make that is compatible with my 2006 Montana?

Rifle compatibility is so subjective I don’t think I can answer that.
No flies on a hunter model, the few i have been around were good shooters and functioned fine.....Hb
I did look at the Hunter on Kimbers site. Not crazy about it. At least it doesn’t have that God awful threaded muzzle.

Called Winchester today , Model 70 Extreme not produced since June 2020. Even though listed as current prod.

I work in a large manufacturing facility and we do not make every product every day. Set up and run “x” amount of widget “a” then change over and run widget “b” and on and on.
Was hoping since they were on the Winchester site as current prod. I could find out when their production schedule was going to produce but alas …..strikeout.
I have an Extreme weather that was rebored by JES to 35 Whelen.

I love it...... shoots tiny groups and handles like a dream!!

I saw a 6.5 needmore at Scheels for a discounted price.
Scheels in ? I’m east coast.
Do you have a link. ?

I tried website for them but couldn’t find it.

Also do you think this could be re-bored to .308. I have zero experience with the whole rebore thing.

It could be done. But there is really no reason to donut unless you REALLY want a .308 or really dislike the 6.5.

If it were me, id buy the 6.5cm, have fun with it, and if you find a .308 trade for it.
Just to clarify I found the Scheels website. I could not find the gun Harleyguy02 spoke of.
What about a 7mm-08?

You might consider the Tulsa Gun Show in April & November.
Went to that in 17 ‘ . Quite the show.
I Have spoke with Scheels . In Eden Prairie Minnesota.
Cove creek outfitters in Bedford Pa
Mid South guns in Wagram NC
And several others all over the country. No luck so far but still on the trail.
Any leads appreciated.

A suitable sub would be an original Kimber Montana in .308.
