I’m converting my Winchester 70 in 338 Win Mag to a blind magazine configuration with Winlite stock. I need to shorten my magazine box, and I’d like to have the exact dimensions. Can any of you guys with a Winlite in a long action cartridge and blind magazine provide me with some measurements of your magazine box? See picture below for what I am needing. Your help would be much appreciated.

I did that exact conversion this summer, including the magazine box trimming for my son's rifle. All you need to do is rough measure distance between the bottom of the action rails and the bottom of the box, cut it slightly short, and then file and try. With the action in the stock, use a stub of pencil to scribe a line along the rails in the action box. Don't forget to get one of those stamped sheet metal bits to hold the bottom of the mag spring in place so the follower goes up and down properly. I'd take the kid's rifle apart and measure, but I don't want to commit him to the hassle of sighting it in again.
I appreciate the info. I am wanting the exact dimensions Winchester used on the factory box to satisfy my own OCD tendencies.
Hi Duvel, on calipers:

Rear is 1.195"
Front is .970"

Based on a SS M70 box that I compared my "blind" M670 box with, the overall average you'd want to take off evenly across the bottom would be 0.165"

Hope that helps!
If you can find a 670 mag box, that will do the trick without modifying your original factory mag box. I found a 670 mag set on eBay when I did the same conversion for my SIL.
