I recently picked up a 700 with the x mark pro adjustable trigger.
It has been messed with and is not safe. I adjusted the trigger as tight as it will go and still will not hold the sear with a hard bolt close
Was thinking about a simple TriggerTech primary, Or is it worth the extra$ for the special?
Opticsplanet has one listed for $119, but read negative reviews about there business practice of selling out of stock items
I have a Trigger Tech primary and it works great for me.

My opinion it would depend on how low a setting you want your trigger to go. Several triggers out there will go down to two and a half pound range and not cost a lot. If you want to get down there below a pound you limit your numbers and they cost a little more you want to get down there in the low ounces this is where Jewel shines.
I've bought several triggers from Opticsplanet. The Independence is an annual special run from Triggertech. They are the same as their regular primary trigger. It's hard to beat the price. It took about a week to receive mine.I'd jump on it before they are out of stock if your looking for a trigger. https://www.opticsplanet.com/triggertech-remington-700-primary-independence-trigger.html

+1, OP is GTG and the Primary is fine for a hunting rifle or tactical style shooting.

I have single stage Diamonds, Specials, and recently 2 of the Independence Primary's. Happy with all of them. On a side note, if you are building on a Zermatt Origin Action, they now come timed, (U15 cocking piece/undersized .015"), to the Triggertech Triggers.

Old school here Walker and proper maintenance..mb
I have a Timney in one of mine and I love it.

Okie John
I have them with both Triggertech and Timney. Both work just fine.
Old school walker tuned up by 24hr member. (805) Mine is 2lbs, super crisp...every bit as good as a timney or trigger tech I think. I have had a few over the years.

Look in the classified or maybe pm him.

I have done several for myself that are very nice 2 lb triggers sometimes slightly less. But unless he already has an old one to work with the new style triggers are junk in my book.
I have a TriggerTech Primary in the one M700 that I own. Couldn’t ask for a better trigger.
No extra Remington triggers here. Will probably go with the T.T.
Although when talking with them this morning he happen to say hopefully its not a timing issue.
Not sure if I can fix that if it is..

Primary:1.5 to 4lbs
Special: 1 to 3.5lbs

For a varminter, the special might come in handy, but for an all-around hunting rifle, IMO, the extra cheddar for the special isn't warranted.
Timney

Timney here also.

I just call the factory tell them what i want and to set the trigger at 2 1/2 lbs. I don't have to mess with it and screw something up and it not be safe.
I’ve replaced a couple of the x-mark triggers with Timneys.

Same answer.
It’s a tough question. I have the original Walker that’s been adjusted, I have two Timneys, one Jewel, and a Triggertech. If I just had to choose my favorite, I guess I would say Jewel. But the rest are still real good. I like to try out different brands and my next one will be a Shilen.
Anyone installed a Bix n Andy?
I have used Timney, Jewel, Shilen, RifleBasix and TriggerTech. My vote goes towards TriggerTech.
I have not tried the Trigger Tech but a good friend has and was unimpressed. Since I consider him to be as knowledgeable as myself when it comes to triggers, I'll take his word for it. I like the Shilen triggers because they are a simple, straightforward trigger. I like the Timney just fine. I thought the Canjar was the best trigger made for the Remington. I think a lot of the problems with triggers on Remingtons are actually problems with bolt timing. I have an X-mark pro trigger on one of my prone rifles (a Remington clone) and it is just fine at 2 pounds.
Having said all this, any of the triggers previously mentioned will work fine if the action lets them work and they are properly adjusted. GD
Like many others have TriggerTech primary in a couple hunting rifles. Wouldnt hesitate to buy another.

I'm obviously the only one who had this problem, but on my one triggertech, getting the bolt release to work was a nightmare. Probably this is uncommon or more people would talk about it. I have at least a dozen timneys on 700s, 7's, and a 600, and don't really see another reason to buy another triggertech. I can't tell the difference shooting them. They're both good.

I have only tried the competition model and it is amazing, but they are over priced for the most part in regular models.

Timney makes some very nice triggers (truly a Godsend for the RAR), but NEVER my choice for a Remington

Jewell and Trigger Tech for a Remington

Same here.
I have used Timney and Trigger tech in Remington 700 rifles and both were excellent ....Hb
Triggertechs are good triggers. I have a Geissele Super 700 on my 7RM and it’s my favorite trigger.
I have Jard's on mine, work fine and never a problem.
All of my 700's have Timney...
Jewell's here.
I ordered two T.T primary triggers. $108 ea .
One for my 722 257 Roberts that will be passed to my grandson. The other for the 700 300 win.
You can’t go wrong at that price - best trigger for the money in my book.
I like the Trigger Tech Special. I can set it on 1# and finesse my shots in early season. In colder weather, when my old hands get stiffer, I can crank it up to 3# and keep going! Another thing, The TT is designed to work even if it gets all gummed up with junk. Ex.- I had a finely set up Shilen that was a dream "until" a tiny, tiny piece of sage leaf got in it and froze it up! So there are all kinds of good reasons to at least try one? have a ball man!

I just put a Trigger Tech Special on my 700 and couldn’t be happier.

The way you're using it is where the TT really shines - adjust the trigger whilst still in the stock.

I’ve only used a few, tuned 700 triggers, Shilen, Timney, and Trigger Tech Diamonds. Out of those, the Trigger Tech Diamond wins. Not even a contest really. There may be better triggers out there, but my Diamonds have been so good I don’t really have any interest in looking for something better, if it even does exist.

Timney first choice
Jewell is my choice for Remington!
A properly tuned and maintained old style Walker trigger works just fine.

Timney for me. No issues, but if I was buying one today a Triggertech it would be.
Triggertech here. Used others. Really like the ease of adjustment.

+1 on the Trigger Tech...I bought the primary and found it very easy to install. My Trigger Tech replaced a bad x-mark pro. the trigger tech has proved to be reliable and hold the adjusted trigger weight.
Timney in mine and I like it but Next one I want to try a trigger tech.
