A few weeks ago, I dropped off a Remington 700 30-06 ADL in a cheap factory plastic stock for some work. My smith had a laminated stock ADL with two crossbolts and fleur-de-lis checkering lying around, so he swapped it into that as a favor. I think it’s maybe from Stocky’s. There’s a lot to like about it: it fits me, it looks great, and it shoots sub-MOA without bedding.

How weatherproof are these stocks? What else do I need to know about them?

The rifle isn't with me right now, but I'll post a few pics when I'm reunited with it.

It should be pretty weather proof but you might want to look at the barrel channel. If it's not well sealed you could put something like marine spar varnish on it. You might do the same under the recoil pad if you want to make sure it handles wet weather well.

This is good advice. I have a couple of Stocky's laminates. Never hunted them in wet weather but they have both been good stocks. A little on the heavy side so I've whittled on one a bit although it really didn't make a lot of difference.

Thanks. Weight was a concern when I first saw it, but it's eight pounds on the nose with a scope, which is not out of line. Water resistance is more important than weight for what I have planned for this one.
