Anyone familiar with any of the various .30 cal wildcats based on the 6.5 Grendel case?

I recently picked up a decent amount of Hornady .308 Arrow brass (around 220pcs), which appears to be nothing more than a 6.5 Grendel necked up to .30 caliber. Hornady wasn't able to tell me anything about the brass, even though they were the ones who manufactured it (its actually stamped "Hornady 308 Arrow"). I am somewhat familiar with the individual who sold the round, its a now defunct company out of middle Georgia (Arrow Arms) who sold AR variants in .308 Arrow and .243 Arrow...with the .243 Arrow was nothing more than a renamed 6x45.

Looks like there are some other variants of .30 cal Grendel wildcats, and I thought it would be a fun round out of a 16-20" T/C Contender carbine (with 110-130gr bullets) or even a 14" pistol. Of course, finding a reamer or reloading dies makes it realistically not viable financially, so I will likely just anneal all the cases and reform to 6.5 Grendel.

Don't know that one.... there is a 35 gremlin, saw a Mini-14 chambered for it.

What makes .308 Arrow different from 7.62x39?

.308 vs .310/.311 maybe?

Bullet diameter and cartridge shape/taper....not sure if case capacity is any different.

Sounds like a fine round. You should be able to get 2,600fps easily with a 125.
I'd look for a barrel and build one up. You have the perfect excuse to do so. smile
I'm pretty sure you could find a reamer from one of the many other 7.62x39/.308 wildcats out there that would work. Check out things like the .30 Grendels, the ARX and PPCs. 65grendel.com has a subforum dedicated to Grendel wildcats.

ETA: This page says you can get 2,800+fps with a 125. That sounds a little optimistic to me.

I think it would be a neat round to play with, but like I mentioned before, it just quickly becomes cost prohibitive. I think my best bet will be just to resize it all to 6.5 Grendel, I'm just curious if I will have to ream any necks.

the benchreast guys used to shoot 30x 1.5" with a slow twist and light bullets.
but this was in a 308 parent case
