Got a last run black Pro Hunter in .30-06.
Cool rifle, shoots good.
But I never use it.
So I posted it for sale on another forum.

Dug it out of the safe and yeah, its a cool rifle.
My only complaint........the slick stock.
It feels odd to the touch (harder plastic than Remington 700 Tupperware).
Am not against keeping the thing.

My question is........

How much would a splatter paint job help reduce the slick feeling?

Quite a bit. There are several options for textured paint. I've painted several stocks with this stuff.

They have a nice texture and I thought it was no issue but I never hunted in the rain with it either . If it bothers you Texture it .

Had a Pro Hunter and had the same issue. Gun shot very well but was heavy and as mentioned the stock was a bit slippery. The SBS action had a few idiosyncrasies but is reliable to a fault. Biggest issue is with the slipperiness and the flexing of the stock around and past the sling swivel that would wreck havoc on the bench if not careful. Unfortunately not many aftermarket stock makers support this action and replacement stocks from the factory are expensive if one wants to modify the original for possible resale later.

Was your stock gray or black? I had a gray one that flexed at the tip, the black one was much better.

Had the gray one, loved the rifle hated the stock. Not were to turn for an alternative.

Funny no issues with mine, greenish stock. Not that slippery at all. 6.5X57.. Been out in the woods in rain and snow.
