Folks,
I'm looking to purchase the above rifle caliber .243 Winchester with a 1 in 8 twist barrel.
My intent is coyote hunting and I'm sold on the 8 twist.
What I would I like to know is if anyone has any personal experience with this rifle? What are the "Pros' vs "Cons" ?
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

I could have sworn you already asked this question?? A lot of guys told you already, they are great rifles. Good suggestions too, like don't order one, unless you know for sure it's an 8 twist. There have been some guys order them, and when they get in, they end up being 10 twist.

Don’t you post a bunch of the same target/rifle pics ad nauseam?

I seem to recall an affinity for the Burris FFII. Or something.

It'll be the best choice you've ever made. I don't own this particular caliber/twist but Tikka makes damn top notch quality rifles.
Smoothest bolt you'll ever witness along with an excellent trigger. So simple to adjust or install a lighter spring for a 2 lb trigger.
If yiu need longer magazine for 105/ 108 or 112 just purchase a M plus magazine.
If only Tikka made a 6 CM , that would be a top seller.
Like said above, make damn sure it's the 1-8,twist.

Go back to your meth. You add nothing worth while to a thread.

Great suggestion for the rifle in the OP. Those that have used them, can attest to that. If either of you 2 have anything to add to the thread, that would be cool. Do either of you even have a Tikka? If not, STFU..

Lol. I saw one once in a pawn shop. If I recall, it definitely didn’t have a Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40mm with the Ballistic-Plex reticle.

I dug around, but couldn’t find a hard charging bench photo or target pics. Did happen to find a Burris and a Tikka though. I know you are not very bright, so I’ll help you out, that’s 3 different Tikkas.

Another swing and a miss by the Village Idiot.

Yes, that happened to me. I wanted the store to get one in and then I would buy it. They made me pay up front and when the gun came in they pretended to not know that it wasn’t 1-8 twist when it clearly showed 1-10 right on the barrel.
It’s still shoots the Sierra 69 TMK good so that’s a plus.
That was in 223, I see the OP was talking 243.

BSA,
I don't recall asking about this particular rifle. I have no Burris scopes.
Normally I'm on the Single shot section talking about Ruger No.1s.
I thought this entire forum was built with the idea of sharing information, am I incorrect??
I'll be 75 years old on Monday, if I repeat a question please just ignore and pass.

Are all the roughtecks stainless or just the embers?

BSA,
I just checked back to page 3 and I did ask a question about this rifle.

I've got an excellent Tikka T3 lite Veil Alpine 6.5CM for sale in the classifieds. Of course, a 100grn bullet in it can't do as much as a 100 in a .243 can.....
Posted By: longshot3 Re: Tikka Lite Roughteck - 03/23/24
Soup- Tikka is your easy button in any flavor and chambering. I've had a bunch of them and didn't have an issue with any.

Matter of fact, I just did the same thing. Trying to figure out a dedicated coyote rifle. I decided on the 6.5 CM and shoot 120's into a 1/2-5/8 inch group all day long. No flies on the ol' 243, but the 6.5 is everywhere and you can bump up easily to the 140's for most big game(if you ever wanted to)

I am pretty sure all of the "special" Tikkas (Roughtech, Ember, Veil, Cabelas D-18s) are cerakoted SS.

That being said, there isn't much you get "extra" with these models over a standard SS T3x chambered in the same cartridge. Unless you really want to pay extra for the colored stock and cerakote. To me the threading doesn't add much as the barrels are still too long to use the threading effectively. On the .243, a brake is not necessary and putting a suppressor on the already full-length barrel makes the whole package too long.

If you have to have one threaded, buy the standard T3x in SS, and send the barrel to Kampfeld or LRI to have it threaded. Buy a vertical grip module and start shooting. If you want the stock camo, buy a couple cans of Krylon and have fun.

All Tikka 243's regardless of model are 1-10 twist
Posted By: TexasPhotog Re: Tikka Lite Roughteck - 03/25/24
No sir. They offer a 1-8 twist 243 too.

I did some more digging on this. Apparently the regular roughtecks are not stainless.
As said go buy where you can pick your rifle by hand. When I bought my ember store had 10twist and 8 twist both. Would not have been happy if I came home with a 10 twist as I already had 2. Love the 8twist ember. Currently shooting 100gr Barnes factory ammo at 3/4” once I run out of them I’ll load up some scenars or vlds.

Those 105 vlds are killers, very impressive on deer!
I load em with RL16 in my 6 CM.

Are the stocks on the Roughtechs and Embers just painted injection molded poly?
They have a rough texture and feel a touch more robust than the standard stock. I’ve replaced all my standard stocks with rough tech or ember stocks.
