Stopped in at the neighborhood gun shop and they had a rifle I hadn't seen in the flesh before - an 1886 in 33 WCF. Even had a box of factory ammo with it. There was also a Stevens single shot chambered for the 44 Shot. Never seen one of those before either. Same guy brought both in to sell.

It'll go quick for anyone who knows what it is.... I certainly would jump on it and I don't need it...

I've got to start getting rid of stuff at my age.

Met a guy out in the woods deer hunting with an 1886 .33 WCF once, probably over 40 years ago.

The famous bear hunter, Ben Lilly, used the 33 Win as his "big" gun.

I keep trying but it’s not easy. Lately I’m definitely losing the battle…

My grandfather said the .33 was the nicest rifle he had ever seen.

I have an old takedown Model 1886 that was originally in .33 Winchester, but the owner before me thoughtfully provided it with a .45-70 barrel. I still have the original barrel, but it stays in the safe while I take the rifle out hunting. I find it far more useful in .45-70.

I don’t see what the .33 Winchester would offer a hunter over another load.

Haha and people write my 325s are "dead" lolol. My position is that if you older gents like something and it' not hurting to get it, do so... or change a worthy recipient's life by helping them earn it.

The original 338. Got a takedown 1886 in that caliber and she has been known to drop a deer or two. Factory installed climbing Lyman rear sight. Love mine!

Also own a .33 WCF takedown. They were popular in Maine.

A friend of mine borrowed a beautiful Model 1886 in 33 Win a few years ago and brought it to my place to hunt deer.....It was a cold morning and soon he returned to my house. Next thing I know I hear shooting in my back yard, and there he was shooting at cans with this valuable ammo. I grabbed the gun and asked him if he knew how much that ammo was worth....He didn't seem too concerned.
