I've got a Remington 700 BDL in 30-06 (factory barrel) and have been offered a McMillan stock that has a factory magnum barrel channel; how much bigger is the factory magnum barrel contour than the standard caliber contour?

Oregon, There isn't that much of a difference. Closer than it appears.

There will be noticalbe distance between the barrel and the stock.
Been there done it. Was not happy with the looks.

I personally won't have any rifle with less than a 5.5 Sendero contour,but that's just me.
