The last post on the CZ's set trigger has me wondering about the set trigger on a Sako. Anyone have any experience with theirs? If so, does lightening the non-set weight in the Sako also change the set weight. The reason I ask is that I was thinking my next rifle would be a Sako 85 Stainless - with the set trigger option.

I have an older Sako with a set trigger. On it you adjust the non set (first stage/single stage or whatever you want to call it) and it does not affect the set trigger weight. The only way to adjust it that I know of is by a gunsmith.

If you look in the sako book for model 75 and 85's it says the same thing but I do not own a 75/85 with a set trigger only the standard trigger.

Nathan,

Would you buy another rifle with a set-trigger? What are the pluses and the minuses? With a quality rifle (like a Sako) I thought it would be a useful idea with more in favour of it than against it.

I probably wouldn't set out to get a set trigger. It wouldn't turn me off if it was otherwise the exact rifle I wanted either. Of all things the Sako I have with the set trigger is a 20" barreled mannlicher stocked one which is odd but I wanted that rifle.

If you like to shoot and see how accurate you can get off the bench it's probably worth it. That's not me tho.

You don't have to use it, if you get one and don't like it - then it's just like any other trigger - tho I couldn't swear the single pull quality would be the same between the 2. Maybe maybe not I just wouldn't know myself.
