I'm new to the forum but like firearms of all types. I currently have a CZ 550 Premium in .270 topped with Leupold VXII 3x9. Finally got the rifle to the range last week to try it out. Nice shooter but the single set trigger takes some getting used to. Managed to hit the 450yd gong though.

For my next toy, I'm looking at the 12BVSS in .308. Anybody here who can fill me in on the good and bad?

Thanks,

Redhat
I'm a new CZ owner. A few months back I bought 2 CZs I had been wanting for quite awhile, a 550 in 9.3x62 and a 527 in 7.62x39. I'm very impressed with both of them. Both shoot under an inch at 100 with factory ammo and I'm looking forward to trying some handloads in the 9.3. I like the set triggers a lot and wish all my rifles had them. Overall, I consider the CZs a real bargain in this day and age. They're built like real guns used to be. The checkering leaves a bit to be desired but other than that I have no complaints.
SCgunut!!! I'm originally from Spartanburg. Anyway, thanks for the reply. I had some prolems with the supplied Millet scope rings but switched them for Warne and byebye scope movement. The rifle put two shots touching at 100M during sight-in so I went ahead and zeroed at 200M. The wood is very plain but I hear that quarter sawn turkish walnut is dense and stout. as for the checkering, I could care less as I wanted a working rifle and not so much a show piece
I recently bought a new Savage 12VSS in 22-250. Not the BVSS you're looking at, but same action & barrel (other than caliber, of course), just different stock. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the shooting abilities. There's a lot of folks that don't like the look or the appeal of a savage, but I like mine asthetically, too. And it will shoot 0.22 inches with handloads. I like that.
Have the 12bvss in 300wsm. I like the gun but it is in for some changes next year. Stock is being replaced with a monte carlo style sporter stock. Am also considering changing recoil lug. And last but not least and certainly not necessary is a new trigger. There is nothing wrong with the rifle the way it is I just want to do a little customizing to it. You should enjoy the 308. My 300wsm shoots less than .5moa so that 308 should have no problem doing the same.
Cool, I'm in Columbia. The rings that came with my 550 were the CZ brand rings. They were just too high and rather crude in appearance. I ditched them and got a set of the low Australian Lynx rings that B-Square imports. They were just what the doctor ordered and were just high enough to clear the Sightron 1.5x6x42 that I put on it.
