I decided to try LW Talleys on my Tikka but then I started to read a few reports about the screws that come with the rings not fitting the receiver? The filler screws on the receiver have some sought of black plastic cap which seems to break up when removing them. Some of this plastic crap has to be carefully removed with a pin so as to not damage the receiver threads. Could this plastic have something to do with the complaints that I've been reading about? Obviously if the pastic isn't totally removed, the ring screws will not go in. Just a thought?
I had this problem and mine did not have any plastic crap you've described. The screws that came with my Talley's were too big and may have been for 8/40 holes. I notified Talley and had a new set of properly fitting screws within a couple of weeks.
I put LW Talley lows on my Tikka about 6 months ago and had no issues.
I thought the talley screws were the wrong size until I thoroughly cleaned out the threads on the Tikka. The earlier Tikka models came with metric threads but that has since been corrected
I just installed some Talley lightweights on my Tikka and had no problems. I screwed the plastic filler screws down through the receiver and they came right out. The Talley screws went in perfectly.
none such problem.I just took a set off(for shipping)no problems.
I used the Talley LW (lows) on my Tikka T3 .338WinMag, had no problems.

I bought a T3 about three years ago and encountered the metric screw issue. I had my scope mounted at the gun shop but later removed the sights and tried to find blind screws to fill the holes and struck out.
the threads are the standard 6-48?? anyways talley sent me the 8-48's or whatever next step larger screw is, not a problem though as they sent out replacements. in any event if you want a lightweight ring just use the factory rings, they seem to really line up well I think its because tikka does such a good job of machining the rail on the top, the rest of the machining is top notch as well.
the plastic stuff did suck to remove, I would have gladly used the factories on this gun however they would not clear my OBJ and varmint barrel
I ordered LW Talleys, they seems to be a popular choice
I'm another satisfied Talley customer - I put them on my .300 Mag T-3 Lite as the factory did not seem to stay secure as well. I had not problems either taking out the plastic or installing the Talleys with the provided screws. This was about 3 years ago, though.
