I went to the store yesterday to buy a box of ammo for my .270 and came home with a T3 chambered in 30-06

I've sorta been looking for something a bit larger than my .270 for elk. Also something I could throw on the quad and not worry about it getting beat up riding through the hills.

Are they generally pretty forgiving and shoot most ammo well?

Or are they like most and shoot some brands ok and one or two brands really well?

I've only got a few weeks until elk season and it would be nice if I could buy a box of Partitions and have them shoot well right off the bat.

Well every rifle is different, but in general Tikka's are known to be accurate. Belive that they are guarenteed to shoot MOA for 3 shots with factory ammo. I can only speak for one, a 270 T3 Lite I bought for my son. It will shoot MOA with factory loads, plain jane Remington corelocks. It shoots under MOA with handloads. I would bet it will be just fine.

I know of two T3s in 06 that shoot extremely well. I have one and my buddy has one. He's the 'sharpshooter' on our Sheriff's SWAT team - and put 3 rounds touching each other at 100yds today using his T3 and my handloads. You've made a good decision!!

my t3 blued '06 will shoot 4 different bullets with 3 different powders into .5 moa aggregate groups. its the least finacky rifle I have ever shot, its sighted in for 130 tsx's which shoot horrible in the gun, 3/4 moa. these where random book loads I thought might work, with ladder testing and a varmint scope who knows what kind of sick load I could shoot with the thing, I like the factory rings, adjust the trigger adjustment screw all the way till it makes firm contact with the stop screw, add a simms limbsaver and go shoot, my trigger is at 2#'s but for some reason feels heavier than that in actual use which is about the only thing I can find wrong with the gun.

I've had a NIB T3 270 SS/syn Lite set aside for the last couple years I never got around to and got a wild hair to shoot it the other day to see if it was a keeper or trade bait. Dug out the used Burris FF II I'd bought for this gun & never shot before either, rigged the rifle and found some 10+ year old factory Fed Prem's in 130gr SGK's & other left over ammo in the cabinet. Mind you this T3 has been taken apart by a 'smith to see the oddball recoil lug and slapped back together back when I first got it....and before all the serious medical crap started.

Bore sighted it at the range ...uh ...old school style peekin' thru the bore at a 1" orange dot at 50 yards. 1st round high & right...redialed the scope a tad...next 4 rnd's under an inch centered in the bottome left of the paster.

Then 3 Rnds of Fed Pwrshk 130 gr Grand Slams under an inch

..and 2 rnds of 30+ year old Norma 130 gr'ers at 1/2" seperation an inch high & perfectly centered.

Sacked it up, and pulled out the next shooter. Came home and dug out the 270 loadin' stuff...'cause this'ns a keeper.

OBTW I was shooting in a gusty 20+ mph wind from 30* right rear quarter .. and only for the 2nd time I've shot anything in 2 years. I also just had a pair of heart cath's earlier this month resulting in 4 stents in 3 arteries and I'm still trying to get the BP meds adjusted to the final full flow that established 9 days ago. The doc's say No Restricted Activities & I'm a gonna take them at their word smile!

Do a Tikka T3 Shoot straight you ask...I'd venture to say without a doubt. I can't wait to get on the 100 & 200 yard positions with some other of my antique Sierra C&C boolitz. JMHO
