When you think of purely aesthetics, which rifle comes to mind that makes you think of "a work of art"? I have several different rifles that I hunt with, but now I want one that almost looks to good to take out of the case. Key word here being "almost".
I don't know of a rifle that would even look 'almost' too good to take out of a case, but this is my pick for one slick mo'fo
Two words ... Weatherby Deluxe! .... esp. the six lug variants
This one baby...
Oh yeah
ohhhh, well, um, i, um.... Never mind.
Lol.....you know I was joking.
I like this one better.
My Kampfeld .264
nice... you get to kill anything with it yet?
Aint even shot it yet...
Kinda cool, the action can be in one county and the barrel in another.
i'll wring it out for you! i could always use another deer rifle... grins

Thats funny.
No thanks Paul I'll do some load up this spring with your loads..Thx
The offer's on the table if you change your mind... grin
Lol your sooooo too eager.
The English doubles (rifles or shotguns)
Can't pick...
just trying to help a brutha out! grins
The Model Seventy Super Grade, but then again, I'm hopelessly common and practical.
Best looking? Anything that is my most accurate.
A Pre64 M70 fwt in a great classic walnut stock.
A Pre64 M70 fwt in a great classic walnut stock.
Works for me, too.
steelie, you have the winner ...
My head gets turned by a number of rifles, for different reasons:
Winchester 1885
Stevens 44 1/2
Shiloh 1874 sporting rifle #1
Marlin 39A with receiver sight.
Savage 99EG
several others.
Depends on my mood. Keep them simple with classic lines, and understated. I don't lust for fancy walnut or engraving, just nicely proportioned straight grained stuff. I'll take the fiddle back maple on my flinters.
1950 M70 Supergrade. New in box. Can't bear to shoot it. It's flawless in my mind. It can only go down from there.
Sako 85 Deluxe or weatherby MK V Deluxe in a standard caliber...............547.
This old gal is easy on the eyes ;
Savage 99F in 358 Win

Not much doubt there....I'd add about any pre 64 M70 or reworked M98 Mauser with a good metal job,and stocked in French by a top end maker like Fisher,Goens, etc in the Classic style. The Mausers particularly are really good looking done right.
Even some synthetic-stocked rifles are good looking, and among contemporary stuff no one makes a sharper looking Rem 700 than Carl Kampfeld IMO.And some of the paint jobs from McMillan and others are nice looking in a contemporary sort of way.....
Benelli R1
Benelli R1
Aaarghhhh! Gargoyle gun! Gargoyle gun! The most hideous of the hideous!
I KNOW your comment was tongue in cheek, mine wasn't!
In a factory rifle...I'd say Ruger #1-S Medium Sporter..
Other than factory....something that says "Rigby" on it and has a bolt sticking out the side...

The Benelli is ugly, but do really think it's uglier than the Blaser? Now that's one ugly chunk of metal and wood!!

Horseman, you are a man of great wisdom.
Ruger #1's and Weatherby for me.
Ugliest?
Blaser
H&R/NEF
TC's---not the icon
These, plus the ones that Forrest B, and TC1 (Terry) have made.
The center rifle was made by Maurice Ottmar, and the bottom rifle is a Bob Owen.
I almost said a double rifle but the Ruger #1-A or maybe the RSI are light weight things of beauty...
Bob
Custom Ruger #1's are particularly easy on the eyes, IMO
I really like the looks of the Cooper Westerner with the case colored receiver. That rifle really does it for me.
I might add just about anything with a Mannlicher stock. A few years ago I thought they were odd and then a buddy started buying some real ones and I've been hooked ever since.
I was just looking at my bookshelf and noticed my history of Beretta book. Those folks can put drop dead art on their rifles.
As far as American makers go... I think Shiloh Sharps has the best fit and finish of anything in my collection.
I love the lines of the Ruger #1's, but mine have very poor wood to metal fit.
One of the late classic M70 featherweight stainless with walnut stock.
The rifle that carries easily, has been lucky and hasn't used it all up.
For me its my Blaser K-95 Luxus
1952 Mannlichers, Kimber of Oregon Super Americas, Browning Safaris, Husqvarna 4100 lightweights, BRNO Model 22s, Old Mauser Sporters and many more
dan
I'll throw in (not literaly) my Browning Model 71 carbine high grade. It'sa purdy but she is a serious hunter which is what it was created to do.
This is a better photo but it is of my rifles twin. Not my picture, but exactly the same.
I don't know of a rifle that would even look 'almost' too good to take out of a case, but this is my pick for one slick mo'fo
I'd like to know more about this boomstick.
Lol.....you know I was joking.
You was joking?

I agree 100 percent! We sure have great taste in rifles don't we? LOL
Lol.....you know I was joking.
You was joking?
Of course.....that things butt ugly.
I like how this one turned out.
I'd have to say something like that damn thing steelhead posts up on occasions such as this.
For sheer looks, I've always liked the Sharps rifle, and the Pennsylvania rifle.
Did anyone vote for a Dakota Model 10?
howa axium in camo!!!!
Not counting custom rifles and high grade British doubles, I would say prewar M70's and Savage 99's.
A Ruger #1 with the feather crotch wood in the buttstock is eye candy to be sure.
My factory 1907 Winchester 1885 Schuetzen rifle in 38-55 with a 30" #4 barrel.
Old model 70's are nice too.
English Double Rifle with a nice piece of French Walnut.
I would say for a factory rifle a Weatherby Accumark. Or a Remington 700 with a fluted barrel and some sort of spider webbed synthetic stock. As you can tell I am from the younger generation. I have never been turned on much by glossy finishes on stocks or metal.
I like the looks of these two girls. Both in 30-06 and both older than me (32). I've killed 8 deer with the pump and 1 with the Enfield (circa 1918).
250 Savage AI - - Kampfeld custom - Mauser 33-40 action cuts, slide bolt release and shoots tiny-teeny groups.
I like how this one turned out.
I keep coming back to this one. Nice!
Mine
WSM_Fan: The correct answer is... any of the Winchester pre-64 Model 70 SUPERGRADE Rifles with 25" or 26" barrels!
These beautiful Rifles with these length barrels came in 458 Winchester Magnum, 375 H&H Magnum, 220 Swift & 300 H&H Magnum calibers!
Aaaahhhhh........
Swoon........
Hold into the wind

Simple and Humble.
I know there are better looking rifles but I sure like a Winchester Featherweight with some good wood. I like the flur d li checkering and schabel forend. Those high grade Brownings in model 71 and 1886 are sure nice though.
Custom Ruger #1's are particularly easy on the eyes, IMO
My sentiments exactly! One with real nice wood in something like 7x57 or 257 Roberts! Or a larger bore like 375 H&H.
Classic and beautiful!
