Just got back my barreled action from Pac Nor this week- had them screw on a 24" stainless, 3 groove, 1-10" onto a Wby Vanguard action.

Still into the break-in period, as recommended by the folks at Pac Nor, as of today, only 40 rounds down the tube, but this one is going to be a shooter. Last 3-round 100 yd. was at .75", in breezy conditions. My experience with Pac Nor barrels says it's only going to get better from here.

Now for the interesting part- I handloaded up some 140 gr. Accubonds, ahead of 64.5 gr. of RL 22, for this break-in. Chrono velocity averaged 3090 fps- so so, ho hum, nowhere close to what I want eventually.

Happened to have a box of Federal Vital Shok, 140 gr. Accubond ammo, which I also shot today. Not only is it sub-moa accurate, but the average chrono velocity for nine rounds is 3269 fps!
Their advertised velocity for this round is 3200 fps. (temp today was 55 degrees). Absolutely no signs of pressure problems, no hard bolt lift, no flattened primers, etc.

COAL for this ammo is 2.812", which is just barely off the lands in this barrel.

I have had similar results with this Federal Vital Shok ammo, in my .280 Rem., also with the 140 gr. Accubond bullet.

Yeah, I know this ammo is expensive, but it's gonna be real hard to justify handloading for hunting purposes with this factory stuff giving these kinds of results.....
My experience with PacNor has been positive.
Congrats Bighorn. what Southern part of the state are your from? East, Middle, or west?
I've seen Fedral ammo for the 7mmWSM give the same veloctites(3250+)with the 160 Partition. I spoke with them about it;they said they load 7mmWSM ammoto 65,000 psi, which accounts for the high velocity..WSM brass is pretty tough stuff, I guess.

270WSM is likely the same.At those pressures, anything can be made to go fast grin
I was shooting some federal 130gr factory 270wsm 130gr a few days ago. It was pretty damn hot and I had to really work to get the bolt open on a few times.

BTW, my "load" for my 270wsm is 66gr of '22, 140tsx, moly, for 3240.

Wow, that's smoking! I'm only brave enough to get my 160's up to 3100 out of my 7wsm.

Remington Express 150 CoreLokt's do 3300+ from my 300 WSM and go into the same hole. Great trophy Whitetail load.
What was the turn around time from Pac-Nor.

Really.. The same hole? I have some great shooting rifles, but not every shot goes into the same hole, and I certainly don't have the patience to make every shot a perfect shot either.
clos,

Turnaround time was exactly 12 weeks, which they initially said it would be.
BTW- I live west of Pueblo, near the Arkansas River.

I ran the same ammo. through my M70 7WSM and clocked it at 3,260. With a sticky bolt, so I don't shoot it any more. It was accurate though.

For Clos, I sent in a re-barrel to Pac-nor 11 weeks ago and checked in last week, it's right on track for 12 weeks like they said.
smokepole:Yes, it's HOT!Shot like crap in my Kimber Montana(that rifle would not shoot anything once velocities got above 280 Remington level);somewhat better in a M70 FW.....I could not duplicate the load, or even come close.
FWIW, I got 3150 or slightly higher with 160 Accubonds and R-17, and no pressure signs in the same rifle.

It's possible, he never stated how far from the target the end of his barrel is. grin
smokepole: R17 was not around at the time I had the 7WSM's.Likely should have tried R25; maybe that would have worked.
Well now you have a reason to get another.
