How are these bullets performing on deer for you guys? I was thinking about trying them in a 300 win. and a 270 win. They shoot fine in my Rem 700 300 Win. I have not tried them in the 270 yet, it's a Rem 700 also.

I havent really shot them other than at targets but from my understand, they are alot like NBT's (which I dont care for)

My hornady interlocks (spire points), shoot just as good as the sst's at half the price. The sst's are pretty though

A little off the subject, but it reminds me of my friend that bought a 22-250 a few months ago. He loves the hornady v-max that he pays $24.00/box when he can buy the remington corelocks (he's shooting sage rats and coyotes with it) for 1/2 the price. I ask him how do they shoot compared to the corelocks that we were shooting the other day. His response "uh uh pretty good", his rifle was shooting the cheap corelocks into less than 1/2 inch at 100 yds

We have shot over 10 mule deer and one elk with the 139sst in the 7mm 280AI and 7mm Mag so far it s worked very well.

They work well on whitetails. I shoot a 165gr in a 30.06. The groups are good too.

The 140 SST Superperformance (light magnum) load has been the most accurate load I've tested with my rifle so far, out of four different brands/loads.

I believe it. My buddy shoots paper with expensive bullets because they have a better BC. I love Core-Lokts.

I have killed several deer and hogs using 129gr SST's in my 264WIN Mag.

I reload for myself and 2 other friends - we all shoot a .308. I use the 150 grain SST in all of our loads and we have been well pleased with their performance.

My experience is with 30 cal 150's from a 308

They were very accurate. and very easy to load for.

They also did a lot of damage to deer. all the deer I shot were under 80yds with a muzzle velocity of ~2850.

In the end I wanted a bullet that would exit and not all the SST's did. I had cup and core seperations. They might have been a better choice if I had tried a version a liitle heavier than the 150's or backed off the load a little bit or been using them at longer ranges where velocity was a little less.

i really like the interlok bullet,we tryed the sst and it didn't seem to kill as fast.they shot great .

They were about like Nosler BT's when I used them. A bit fragile to me. Prolly a good long range bullet. My son used them in his .280 and switched to 139gr flat based interlocks and got better performance and accuracy at a lower cost.

I have shot a pile of 180 SST's through my 300 weatherby but only killed one critter with them. I shot a 100# spike with them last year. I hit him in the shoulder at 125yards and dropped him right there. I didn't do an autopsy but the bullet broke the onside shoulder then traveled up the spine and exited miway up the neck. That is a muzzle velocity of about 3200fps.

That exactly mirrors my experience with that bullet in that cartridge running 2820 fps.

Just yesterday I shot a whitetail doe at 150 yds with 130 gr SST out of a 270. Hit a little low in the chest broadside and deer fell for a couple steps. When I got up to it couldn't believe the amount of damage. Bullet must have blown up exiting. Way to much damage. I've used them in the past and not had this problem before. They shoot great though.

I load SST's for my daughter's .308. She has taken four whitetails at ranges from 20-150ish yds. with complete penetration on broadside shots. She can't handle full power .308 loads so I make up her ammo at 300 Savage (2600 fps) velocities. In her rifle they are more accurate than the Interlocks.

Super Sonic Trash: I can't get them to group in the 6.5-06, or any of my 270'S. I gave all I had bought away.

I have not used them on game, but if they group in your rifle, and as others have mentioned similar performance to the Ballistic Tips, I'd use them. I like the Ballistic tip in the mid calibers, and I am happy with it's performance on paper and light game.

In my experience, SSTs are more frangible than BTs of the same caliber and weight, but both will ruin more meat than, say, AccuBonds, InterLocks and Partitions, especially if you hit big bones. We have tried them in .243s, and a .257 AI. They do shoot very good groups and are easy to load for, but you have to place your bullet carefully if you don't want to waste meat.

I've found them to be a bit softer than the standard Interlock out of my 270. Not as much penetration but more destructive. By the way, shot a pretty nice buck earlier this week with a 150 gr. Berger with my 270. Broadside at 75 yards, behind the shoulder, no exit hole, dropped in his tracks. Don't know if I would want to hit a big bone with these, course this is my one and only experience with this bullet.

That's why I maintain they are better at a longish range. I've only used them within 50 yards or so. I went back to a heavier, slower bullet that does less damage.

The SSTs are accurate, but simply too destructive for the hunting I do.

I have great luck with them out of a .270. They shoot well. Last year I shot 5 whitetail deer with them and had all complete pass throughs. Avoid the shoulder if possible.

The 180 SSTs are great for deer in my 30-06s. I bought a thousand of them in a blem sale for about $75. They will outlast me.

I've run them out of my 6.5 Swede; hunted caribou once with them. I had them loaded thinking we might have some long range stuff to deal with. Instead we ended up dealing with runners. Consequently I found out how they work in pelvic bone. They killed well enough and shut things down right quick. The mess was a bit excess however...no surprise, and probably neither better nor worse than other cored slugs.
