Poll first...then we'll argue over the results!
I can't believe we've gone two pages and no one has mentioned the .308.
There ... I said it. What else can I add, other than I like vanilla ice cream, too.
.270W.
It ain't the chambering that makes it so special. If it were in ANY other caliber, and shot like it does, it would still be my favorite.
.308 at this instant. Better post quick
Sunday (The Lord's Day) - 270 win.
Monday - 7mm-08
Tuesday - 280 rem.
Wednesday - 308 win
Thursday - 300 Wby
Friday - 25-06 rem

Toss up .257 Weatherby and .22-250AI

We all probably seek this Holly Grail, but for most, this quest ends up being a moving goal post with us leaving a carnage of rifles and cartridges within our wake. As for me, no matter which direction I may stray, I seem to always find a center balance when I come back to the 30-06 Springfield.
Best:)
2 favorite rifles depending on the day - .308 & .338-06
tough question as i like them all!-pinned to the ground i would say 257 weatherby but might be lying!-whsk

Well it started off being my 338-06 now my 257 Roberts if fast becoming my favorite hunting rifle
7x57 with 6.5x55 a very close second.
I have a list
35 Whelen is my favorite rifle, my Favorite toy is the 1919a4 in 308 but my wish to be favorite is clearly the Savage BA110 in 338
Fav rifles are my custom Husky and a 700 APR. Fav round.....280 Ackley.
The Mighty Roberts
I LUV my 257 Roberts improved - For over 30 years
"Roberty Bob" - Keep on keeping on!
However there is a 7mm Wildcat coming soon that might be a challenge
Bravo 27
A FRIEND DOWN UNDER
My favorite
rifle is the Weatherby Mark V.
My favorite cartridges are.
22 Long Rifle - rimfire
6.5 Remington Magnum - centerfire
Let's line 'em all up..... and let's disregard the multiples in each caliber.....
.222
.223
.243
7-08
7mm RM
.30-06
.375
.45-70
.458
and the winner is?
.222 -- Because it is just too damn much fun to leave in the back of the safe.
My go-to hunting rifle is .300 Win Mag.
When I head out to the range, it's my 25.06 Rem.

That's also been my favorite for over 30 yrs for deer/antelope/sheep.
My .300 Wby is fast becomming my favorite for all North
American animals.
And my .375 Ultra mag is my favorite for Africa.
Ruger M77 .257 Roberts is the favorite.
Ruger M77 in 7mm RM is the one I've had the longest (by 20 years if talking only big game bolt guns) and taken the most game with.
35 Whelen, but my 7X57 is closing fast.
No love for the .264 WM?
That aint right.
A toss up- My Model 700 338-06 is a proven Elk killer. My Sako 338-08AI is slightly more accurate and a dream to carry.
210 gr against a slightly slower but still potent 200 gr.
I really like:
My 257 Roberts.
My 270's
My 7RM
My 7 Mashburn(newbie),and
My old 375H&H
Too soon to tell. The package my wifes 250AI is in is my favorite. I'll dupe it in 243AI. Pretty hip on the 22-250AI and 708 too.
pre 64s in Model 70 270, 30-06 and 375...depends on what I am hunting...like them all...
Rem 700 300RUM or a Savage 7mm STW depending on what it's pointed at.
hoping it will be the new .303 Brit!
Howa 1500 in 223Rem
Howa 1500 in 243 Win
Ruger Hawkeye in 270 Win
Parker Hale in 7 X 57
Howa 1500 in 30-06
Marlin 925 in 22LR (my BIG CALIBRE!!! - just kidding!!!)
If I didnt like it, I wouldnt have it!! Pure ans Simple.

I probably haven't yet hunted with every caliber that I will hunt with, but for now, it's 7x57.
long action... .280 Rem
short... .308 Win
Ruger 77 35 Whelen for hunting, Marlin 1894 44 mag for walkabout/plinking.

223
22-250
250 Sav
I just can't decide with is my favorite...
Can't even begin to select. That would be like picking a favorite child.
Must be the .35 Remington, that's the one that always finds it's way to the Jeep with me.
Lotsa favorites, but 358 Win for my type of hunting in cover where 250yds would be a loooong shot.
Classic caliber from days gone by, and does it with big thump in a small package with short action. Can be put in just about any short action, light weight package you like.
"Style", epitomized.
250 Savage in a bolt rifle!
Currently having a fling with the .350 Rem Mag....it only recently replaced the 7X57.
I'm going to put a plug in for my 7.5x55 Swiss.
CZ 452 in 22 long rifle for playing. M70 300WSM for hunting.
I have favorite rifles, not chamberings. In a well set-up mauser with decent wood, it could be .270, .280, 30-06, 7 rem mag, it makes no difference.
I'm a Savage Model 99 guy....
Love the 300 Savage caliber...
I said 243AI, but I meant 300 H&H, or was that 375H&H?
If you make me pick just one I'd say a Remington 700 7mm Rem Mag....(24" barrel).............Hillbilly.
.30-06, I stray off with other calibers from time to time but the good ol' dependable '06 never fails me.
The legendary .270 Winchester in a 24" barrel.
open country M 70, 6.5x55. brush country 444. jump it and shoot hunting M 99 250-300.
Winchester Featherweight .308, and Remington Classic .35 Whelen.
Too-Forty-Tree Vinchester
.30-06 followed by the .308
Ken
Absolute favourite Brno #4 22LR
338 win mag Ruger m77 tang safety
3006 Tikka T3 in spite of my best efforts to not like it
257 Roberts Ruger MkII long action wood blue
The last two flip flop depending on which one I am shooting at the time.
Well i think its going to be the 300 Winchester magnum Herter U9 (BSA action)That I just bought. My only question is what am i going to shoot with it in South Carolina????
browning 260 cal best i have ever hunted with by for
270 Win, with a certain 30-06 a close second.
Sunday (The Lord's Day) - 270 win.

Follower here....
I do love that thing...and would likely love it as well if it were a 7RM.......but that long 175 NPT at almost 3100,and those various 160-162's at 3200 are heady to contemplate.....
Sub-one category "Shock and Awe"....
7mm SAUM!!!
140Gr @ 3200
160Gr @ 3000
175Gr @ 2900
.5 MOA @ 100yds
Efficient, light, hits hard, low recoil and very accurate...whats not to like?
Remington 7600 35 Whelen and Marlin 336 30-30 WCF.
1) .22 Long Rifle
2) .30-06 Springfield
3) .375 H&H Magnum
Everything else is just icing on the cake.
