I have a 300 Win Mag built by Magnum Research. Its a great shooting gun but I just cant fall in love with it. My hopes was this would become my "one" gun. I just cant walk away from my Model 70 .270.

I have put about 200 rounds through it. When I got it you couldnt tell if it had even been shot. Im guessin that it has less than 250 rounds easy. It was built in 1994. Is built on a Sako action, HS Stock, Krieger barrel 1-10 twist hasa excellent trigger (dont know if its a sako or aftermarket, if anyone does know what they used in the MRI's I would like to know). What would you say the value of this gun would be if I was to part with it?

Sako built actions for Magnum Research. At one time you could buy just the action from Mag. Research in the white. They had a round top with a Rem. contor and you could use Rem. bases for the scope. Your rifle was most likey built by a Gunsmith somewhere? Sounds like you have a very nice rifle--maybe a brake would make it more injoyable. You have over $1000 in parts in that rifle.
I called MRI and they confirmed the Serial number and told me the build date.

One side of my brain is telling im stupid for wanting to sale a gun that shoots this good, but the other side of my brain looks at the gun and says "yaaa it shoots good but wouldnt ya rather have a redhead"

I have never really noticed the recoil when shooting this rifle. The only time a gun has got my attention was shooting my BPS with 3.5 inch fiocchi turkey loads setting with my back aginst my front bumper of my pickup. That sure put the ol kiabosh on my shoulder.
I will be a nickel plated Sako L691 action and a stainless Kreiger barrel......McMillan stock.

I'd hang on to it if I were you...not many around...not much you can't do with a 300 Winny..
Have you decided to sell your Mountain Eagle?
I have a feeling you already know this gun. Is your name Al?
Here are some photos.

Badley,

According to my research, the Mountain Eagle was made from 1994-2000. I well remember when Gander Mtn was selling them off N.I.B for $999.

IIRC, I paid $800 for mine in .308 Norma w/Arnold Arms bbl. nice rifle, but heavy.

The BBofGV lists a value of $900 in 95% condition. I'm thinking that may be fairly difficult in today's economy. I consider the above only a guide... It's worth what you can get someone to pay for it. Good Luck!

Thanks. The only thing I dont like about the gun is the weight. I would like to have it loose a around a pound.

I am in total agreement there. Mine has a 25.5" barrel and tips the scales at 10.05 lbs w/4.5x14 Leupold on my certified Fed-Ex scales...
