Currently there is a thread on 7-08s and a bunch of nice rifles posted.
Lets take a look at the 7x57s.
A beauty - I would be interested in some details.
Didnt we just do this not long ago?
old military mouser 98 action, chanlyn (sp?) CM 1-9 twist barrel finished at 24". Commercial bottom metal, put together by Dave Sullivan at West wind rifles in Erie CO. stock work was done by a friend of my fathers. wears a Swaro 3-9. I inherited it after my father passed away. Haven't shot it but i'm going to get a load for it for next year. It was the last rifle he built, it was finished roughly a year before he passed away..

There was a recent thread - Ingwe, show me your 7x57 or something to that effect.
It is a possibility, however people are buying, building 7x57 everyday. We need to see those.
Mine looks like MagMarc's, except it has a 3 x 9 Leupold on top, with a heavy German Number One Reticle.
The other is a Ruger Factory 7 x 57.
Here is my lefty Winchester in 7X57...
My only current 7x57 is the Dakota 10 on the bottom...
I like it very, very much.
Salvaged action from rifle left in a damp basement and a barrel found in a takeoff barrel pile.

No longer a part of my repertoire but here is a M70 I had for a bit. I sold it out of fear that I may become ingwe....

If I can work miracles, my CZ 7x57 will appear from photobucket. It's an accurate, handy rifle that's taken every deer (except one when I shot thru a small sapling I didn't see) that I intended to take.

Sold it after you killed that deer with it? Isn't that kinda like selling the Mona Lisa at a yard sale?
Well chit!
If I email someone a pick of my 7x57 would you mind posting it? I can't seem to get it to work this time.
Thanks
Dave
Holy Schiot! What a gay thread.

Well, I sold it to another campfire member whatever that's worth....
Send your pic to

TS Ruger M77, Bausch & Lomb Balvar 2.5x8
johnfox, what the Hell you done shot with that one shooter?
Holy Schiot! What a gay thread.
In what politicaly correct context should we interpret your post?
Holy Schiot! What a gay thread.
John - Not gay. Refined. Dignified.
Travis - like2shoot has taken on the techno challenge. Thanks for the offer. At least that rifle stayed in the extended family.

johnfox, what the Hell you done shot with that one shooter?
I'll see if I translated the question right
......it's a fallow buck, not a particularly good one, but pretty decent.
.275 Rigby:
Here's mine in 7x57. A Belgian mauser rebuilt by E Landry of Lakeville, MA. I bought it built as is. It has a Fajian stock, timney trigger, buehler safety and the rest is anyone's guess. The fellow holding it is Mike LaRocca of LaRocca Gunworks, Worcester, MA who is drilling and tapping for scope mounts and adding a bit loger recoil pad. Have taken boars and fallow with it. It likes Hornady 175gr RN.
Pretty sweet..its ambidextrous...
.275 Rigby:
NICE work Carlos!
I'm not a springfield fan...but I could be swayed....

Awesome, wonder how much that costs?

I believe you might be right...the bolt release is giving it away...my bad....
I'll shut up now......
It is a lovely rifle...trying to get him to take it to Namibia in 2012!

No need for self-portraits!
'll shut up now......

Thanks johnfox. To my cracker eye it looked to be a cross between a whitetail, an elk, a small moose, and a Bambi fawn!

This is my custom 7x57 based on a M98 Mauser action. Its has an English walnut stock, inletted swivels, the skeleton grip cap and butt plate are made of cape buffalo horn. You can see it has a nice checkered bolt knob, case hardened floor plate, custom bolt shroud, ebony fore-end tip, and an inletted shield (currently without initials . . . I'm trying to decide). The trim barrel is a custom Shilen. AS you can see it is currently wearing Buehler bases and rings, though I have several options. It is hand checkered and wears a hand rubbed oil finish. It is fitted with a Timney trigger with customized thumb lever. The barrel length is 22" and the rifle weighs approximately 6.8 lbs. as shown with scope mounts...Rifle was made by Tom Ward of Ogden, Utah quite a few years ago. I consider it one of the top three finest rifles in my safe.
This is a Mexican Mouser.
Was drunk years ago and saw worse creatures.... Cousin of chupacabra?
Wow! Nice rifle...has it been to Africa?
7x57 on the right. Began life as Oberndorf M98; Roger Biesen did the rest. Pooch likes it too.
OrangeOkie,
That is a fine looking rifle!
A beauty - Biesen, eh? O'Connor would have approved.
Why didn't OrangeOakie get the pretty one.....
Travis
This is a Mexican Mouser.
Wheee O!
That is beautiful.
Because it is macho.
Here are a couple of my 7x57's. Both BRNO's a 21F and 21H.

A pre war Model 70 redone by gary goudy...lucky me.
'll shut up now......
Promise?
I promise nothing.....
That would be the one on the left. A Walther Model B Mauser. Its brother to the right is an 8x57.
This BRNO 7x57 sits in the back of the safe since the Walther arrived.
This is a Mexican Mouser.
John not to pick bones but...that dog needs a dentist!!
Factory engraved 1953 FN Deluxe 7x57 still unfired! I have another FN 7x57 for hunting.
Hey Tony,
Want to sell that Brno since it is banished to the back of the safe? I have a kid that could use it.
Factory engraved 1953 FN Deluxe 7x57 still unfired!
Such a travesty. Like marrying a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, and then not taking advantage of it.
Don't say that! My 21H and my old style Rem 700 Mtn Rifle in 7x57 are both still unfired
Soon maybe... as I ain't getting any younger
Some extra nice rifle guns y'all posted, for sure!
g
You sure have a lot of will power there GW. Me - I would have loaded them up and shot them the first day in my possession.

Yeah, if the dog gets wind of that slam, he will hunt you down and bite your azz....
Seriously, what the heck is that Nancy is protecting so valiantly?
Heres one I put together a few years ago.

I admit to a "stiffness" everytime I see a good one....

Some beautiful rifles on this thread for sure. Here's one of mine.
1910 Mexican M98
Metal work by Mark Stratton and stocked by Chic Worthing.

TC1- simply wonderful. Beautiful rifle.
Les
Why did you go with the Mexican 1936 style cocking piece?
JEff
I just thought it looked cool ;^)
Terry
Left Hand 700 Lilja Barrel 1&9 twist, Black Laminate , Black Ceracoat finish.
Terry,
Thanks for showing your 7x57 again. Absolutely Beautiful!

These are the two of mine. I have posted before this pictures.
1- 1935 Mauser with a new unused Steyr 1912 barrel. Original stock reworked.
1- Original Sporting DWM 1893. Factory Made. Only 1000 were made like this one. A kind of, not exactly, the so called Plezier Mausers.

Not only could I never take that rifle to the field in fear of some kind of anything happening to it, I'd probably have to buy it it's own safe.
That is likely the most awesome piece of wood I have ever seen on a rifle. Kinda like it has it's own camo job.

Love the 1/2 octagon barrel Terry. You have excellent taste.
TC's gun - what a gem!!! A safe queen indeed.
The only thing that will do it justice .......is seeing a nice deer sitting next to it with a happy hunter in the background.
Thats MHO!!!
CK
I am building a 7x57 on a MarkX. I have a McMillan with a blind magazine. Benchmark is making the barrel. I will show pictures when I have it back.

John - your Mexican "mouser" is one mean looking devil dog! Beats the chit out of Damian's Rottweiler. Homesteader.
Muleshoe - 100% agree with you. The wood shown in these posts just great...problem is I'd cringe (read CRY!)if they ever became dinged in anyway. Homesteader.

Here's the way I look at it and maybe this will help. I'm only going to be on this earth for so long. Guns like that last longer than the owners or the people that built them. One day I'll die and this rifle will belong to someone else. You can't take it with you. When that day happens and it will, whomever receives my rifles will get what's left of them because I'm going to enjoy them while I'm here. When I get too old to use them I'll look at the scrathes and dings and remember how they got there and the fun I had using the rifle. Hopefully they'll bring back fond memories. I try my best to take care of them for the next owner but they are just material things and they will be used while I own them.
Terry
Here is interesting one. This one comes out of the shop of Paul Dressel. Paul isn't a conformist, he follows nobody when it comes to style. When you get a custom from him you get a true custom.
BRNO 21H in 7X57. 24" barrel, Zeiss/Jena 6X scope.

you have some extremely nice rifles tc1.
woulda, coulda, please, put me in your will ?
i also feel like you, i have noone to leave what i have to tho, cept friends.
so i hope they enjoy what i had, as much as i did while here.
maybe before i get too old, i should make a journal of each gun, and where each scratch or ding and dent came from. kinda like a living history.
johnfox, what the Hell you done shot with that one shooter?
Not JF but JW.
It is a Red Phase Fallow Buck. Aussieland has all 4 color phases, Black, White, Menil and Red.

Roger Biesen built this 7x57 for me
Terry:
YOU SUCK. Damn that Dressel stick is awesome......

Beautiful gun! Can you give me any of the details? What action is it built on? No one does a better bolt handle than Roger. IMO
ddj
Steyr 7x57 Luxus/wood with optional extended magazine (original mags metal and fit flush with action bottom) and black Steyr Professional 7x57.
Wrist angle similar in both though forearms quite different shape. Luxus is round and slender, Professional is Weatherby blocky. For my hand the Professional handles easier and easier to snap to shoulder.
Luxus has Zeiss 1.5x4.5 - Professional has Bushnell Trophy 4x wide angle (laugh away-the Trophy is very easy scope to aquire and scan targets-bright too!)
Trouthunterdj
Its a 1903/38 variant of the mdl.98, Made in Oberndorf 1903-1905 intermediate action length, lg.ring action, small shank barrel,English walnut, 22 lpi multi-point and fleur-di-lis checkering,Ebony for-end, Douglas air-gauge barrel
Thanks for the kind words guys
Thanks Blackdog1 - That is a classic in every sense of the word. Roger and Al built me a 257 Roberts on a 1909 that looks like a brother to yours except I had them add the trapdoor buttpad.
ddj
Plain and simple. Pre- 64 Model 70
I know you somehow protected that stock from that brick, but I cringed anyway as I looked at the picks of that beautiful rifle. How does it "shoulder" for you? It looks different for sure.

It handles well. The double trigger setup takes some practice though.
Terry
That Bieson is one fine looking rifle!
Terry
Whitebird,
That's a beauty for sure!
Boy, a lot of safe queens on this thread.
All of my pretty rifles? As I went through this thread, made me just want to kick my wife/dog...... But I had better thoughts. Congrats to those owners of those beautiful 7's. Life is good.
Here'a a pretty informal pic of my Parker Hale 7x57.
Certainly not a safe queen.......but has proven its worth out in the field, having taken approx 80 deer to date.
When I get the time, the varnish will make way for a nice oild finish.
Action has been bedded, trigger lightened.
Its particluarly fond of Winchester Super X 145 grain factory loads.
CK
TC,
Thats a beauty you got there!!! I had 21H a number of years ago and a collector got it from me, One of a few rifles, that I kick myself for ever selling! butter smooth action. I haven't seen but a couple of 21H's in 7x57, mostly in 8x57's
There sure has been a lot of fantastic 7's on here.

I should think that straight line stock would shoulder like a dream and stay on target after the shot breaks.
