I've started looking into these rifles.......I'm set on 7mm rem mag. My only complaint is I really dont care for the rubber on the stock. Are there any options out there? Do the older models have rubber on the stock?

75's had rubber grips too. You could always put an EDGE stock on it...

Are they worth the money? By the time I bought a finnlight, and put an edge on it, I could buy 2 kimber montanas. If kimber would make a montana in 7mm rem mag, that would be my huckleberry.

If you'd rather have the montana, buy a .280AI. If you want guaranteed accuracy, detach mag, and a cheek piece, buy a sako.

If I could put an EDGE on a kimber, I'd try one out in .30-06. Kimber stock does nothing for me.

75 finnlight is nice. The palm-swell feels great.
Accuracy is quite good. Great trigger.

You sure would not have an edge on a finnlight no matter how many Kimbers you own.

To the OP buy what you want and what seems to make the most sense to you. If a finnlite in an edge makes sense buy it, if one, two or 5 Kimbers make sense then buy them.

I own both and if I had to buy a new lineup of guns all over again I'd go Kimber and probably not look back.

What don't you like?The looks or feel or both.I have one(Finnlight),the inlays make for a great grip.I wouldn't change it unless it broke.JMHO

I really like the action and feel of the rifle. Currently I have a tikka t3 in 7mm rem I am looking to upgrade. The rubber stocks are functional I'm sure, I just dont care for rubber on a gun. I really like my kimber montana but like the feel of that sako cheekpiece. I guess I could just get a mcmillan sako stock for my rem 700 and call it good. Cant do anything till Chrismas presents and something special for the little lady are out of the picture anyway.

I have a couple Sako 85's in Edge stocks, love them and worth the extra money. Had a Kimber...

I was told at one point (from MCM I believe) that McMillan didn't inlet stocks for Sako 85's. They obviously fixed that eh? It's been awhile since my inquiry.



I have a Finnlight .308. I don't mind the rubber on the stock one bit, but overall stock quality leaves a lot to be desired. It's no different than the tupperware POS that comes on, say, a Rem SPS. So if you're planning on a Finnlight, might as well plan on a stock upgrade for it too, or at least making some mods to the factory stock.

If all you're really after is the Sako style stock, buy the MCM for your Rem, bed it and shoot.

My 85 Finnlight shot five different load recipes with one hole accuracy in its factory synthetic stock. As far as factory synthetics go the Sako is probably the best. It is pretty stiff & ergonomical for a commercial offering.
