Nobody in my area sells this powder. I purchased 3 pounds from Grafs. Yup ! The $25.00 hazmat fee. I've looked at their load chart and it only list the 35 Rem which I have a lever rifle anyways. Where to start with charge and what's your max load. What is the burn rate equal to another powder. Bullets will be the Hornady 200grSP / 225 NP and maybe some 200grRN Core-Loc. Thanks for the help.

In John's article, which by the way was a very good one, he listed it like this.

200gr bullet-52.0gr of Tac
225gr Sierra-49.0gr of Tac
250gr Hornady-48.0gr of Tac
250gr Partition-48.0gr of Tac

All loads were shot with Magnum primers. powdr
I'm running 200gr TSX and 51grs of TAC
Here is what I got from Ramshot Powders:

We suggest the following.

Caliber: .358 Winchester.

Barrel length: 24

Powder: Ramshot TAC.

Bullet weight: 200 grains.

Start load: 43.0grains (2300 2350 Fps)

Maximum load: 48.0grains (2450 2550 Fps) LD ca 108%.

Bullet weight: 225 grains.

Start load: 41.4 grains (2000 2100 Fps)

Maximum load: 46.0grains (2300 2400 Fps) LD ca 106%.

NOTES:

It important to note that SAFETY is our prime concern therefore we strongly recommend.

1. ALWAYS BEGIN LOADING AT THE RECOMMENDED MINIMUM START LOAD and develop loads in 2% increments towards the MAXIMUM load.

2. If possible, measure the velocity and correlate with our data.

I have run the 225 np with 49g of Tac over a CCI 250 primer in two 358's. Its above ramshot's reccomendations so approach with care.

Scott,

What are you getting for speeds with 51 grains?

firearms44, first my apology for not answering your PM. My loading bench is all packed up to move it into my new shop... kept meaning to just go check the box of ammo itself, but forgot.

Anyway, I use 51 grains of TAC behind a 225 Partition for a bit over 2500 fps from a 20" barrel. I have not tried 200's/TAC; JB saw 2700 fps if memory serves.

Speaking of Mr. Barsness, he'd the source of my TAC data and is a very nice guy. If you PM him, he will help you out. He goes by Mule Deer.

Same here but with the 200 Hornady.
Just got home from work. I see that I have a good starting point and I can work my way up. Thanks everyone for the advice. I really appreciate it. Brown truck should deliver the powder (Friday) tomorrow. I have to sign for it.

Ken
man...I thought I was loading them hot, but I wouldn't go up to your load. IMHO, it's top for a 200 grainer. 2500 fps from a 20" barrel is smokin'.

I load TAC in my 350 RM and push 225 grainers at near 2800 fps from a 22" barrel...and I consider that a very hot load.

Just my opinion.

BTW, I was getting pretty good velocities from Ramshot's exterminator powder. THen had to shift load development to another rifle and haven't gotten back to the 358 win. TAC is good, for sure though.

Looks from the above that 52 grains of TAC oughta be OK with 180 FPs from my Frontier and have plenty of smack under 100 yards.

Most of my hunting is thick brush and woods 'round here.
I know this is three years old, but it's relevant. I wonder if Mule Deer's loads, that seem warm by what I've seen in my 358 win and from other comments here, are fine because the Ruger M77 action is stronger than my Nosler M48 action. I don't know. I'm just playing with my 358 and 52 grains of TAC seem warm behind a 200 Barnes ttsx. With 48 grains, I'm getting 2590 fps, ES 21, and SD 10. With 49 grains, I'm getting 2595 fps, ES 41, and SD 15.

Thanks for any input.

Works pretty good with 49 and 225’s...

Judman, How do you like that Ruger American in 358 win? I though about getting one.
Posted By: Judman Re: TAC - Loads for the 358 Win - 11/24/19
I like it. It’s cheap/cheap feeling, but it’s affordable and shoots good... I saw the other day grice still has some available
Can you seat bullets long? I believe the Ruger M77's magazine and chamber let you seat out to 2.9" OAL. I didn't know if the American uses the same dimensions or not. I know you can use the Nosler Accubonds in the M77 but that's the only 358 win rifle I know you can.

Runnin 225 sgk at mag length
UP,

No unfortunately in the Ruger American you’re limited to standard SAMMI specs, because of the magazine dims.

Bringing this back up for future reference. Anyone got anything to add? New information?
Posted By: TX35W Re: TAC - Loads for the 358 Win - 04/21/22
Same old. 49.5gr of TAC under a 200 accubond gives 2500 fps from an 18.5" barrel. No pressure signs, could probably go higher, but it shoots bugholes and feels fast enough.
Bumping so I don't lose it. Thanks for the help Mathman!
