I have an older tang safety Ruger Ultralight I am toying with having rebarreled. I was thinking it would be a nice platform for a 250 Savage or 260 Remington, but custom barrels seem to be hard to find for this model. Anyone have experience they would like to share?
Should rebarrel just like any other M77, unless I am missing something. You may have to look around to find a barrel maker that matches the exact contour with a pre-turned blank. Other options would include having a smith turn a blank to match the contour or using a similar standard contour and opening up the stock inletting slightly to match.

Ya, should be no problem for a competent gunsmith.
If someone like PacNor ever made one, they will have the contour pattern stored in their software. If they don't have it, they will duplicate your factory barrel for a few extra $$ and keep the program for later request for the same barrel contour.
Ruger 77s have flat breech barrels and are among the easiest rifles to rebarrel. Any barrel maker worth a damn can cut a proper Ruger 77 barrel.

I have a few rebarreled Ruger 77s:

77 RSI in 257 Robert, a 77 RL with the barrel cut back to 18.5" and installed in a 77 RSI stock.

77 RSI in 260, a 77 RSI in 243 that was rebored/rerifled to 260.

77 RL in 6.5x55, a 77 RL action and stock inletted for a 77 R barrel.

77 RSI in 7x57, a 77 RL action with a 77 R barrel cut back to 18.5" and installed in a 77 RSI stock.

I had an UltraLight .250 Savage with a bad factory barrel. Ray Montgomery in Grand Junction, Colorado re-barreled it with a Douglas Premium stainless in the same chambering. I don't remember whether Ray contoured the barrel or he purchased it from Douglas with a Ruger factory contour (if Douglas even provides such a service).

I don't know if Ray is still in business or has retired, but he's rebarreled a number of rifles for me over the past twenty-five years. Always excellent work.
My tang UL is rebarreled to the 250 AI and, IIRC, the new barrel was a hardly fired custom take-off of a Rem M700 and machined to fit. This was done many years ago.

Shilen rebarreled my Mk ll .308 with a 20” match grade stainless 7mm-08 #1 taper barrel. That and a Kevlar stock made it into my favorite deer rifle.
I know it's an 8 year old thread, but I can't help but think a Douglas #1 would work
