Considering trading for one. Does anyone have any experience with one? What kind of accuracy can be expected?
It is the sythetic with weathershield model, what would be a fair price for it? Also, do yall think it will be dead caliber in the future? Thanks in advance for the information.

I have the exact same rifle. Mine is/was incredibly accurate right out of the box. I'm talking about 1/2 MOA accurate.

My guess is that you will be able to buy ammo from Hornady for a long, long time. And if you reload you would never run out of ammo.

Just buy plenty of brass and you will be set. I have a weathershield 308 4digit serial that is a tack driver. Pleasant to shoot , mine is a tad heavy but not as heavy as the wood stocked models.

Most accurate rifle I have ever owned. Mine came with a .13 test target and it lives up to it. Hell of a rifle

Nice to hear. I reload but the guy says it shoot emtremly well with factory superformance ammo. What grain bullets do yall load with? Nosler BT is my favorite, what powder do yall use?

Whats a fair price on gun?

I use 130gr Barnes TSX. Lower recoil and really pounds deer. I remember a while back they were going for around $600, which is a great deal. It is not a top seller by any means and that's probably why they were selling so cheap.

Hmm it is a fine rifle , definitely a cut above most american made rifles. I use corelockt 150 grain ammo in mine until I start reloading it this spring. At that point it will be Lapua brass and a Sierra Gameking(165) the accuracy should be astounding.f

www.cdnninvestments.com has them for 499

It's a dead caliber NOW. In fact, it was stillborn. It's a fine rifle though, and there is nothing wrong with the caliber other than being an answer to a question that wasn't asked.

It is a dead caliber but I have lots of brass and its alive and kicking in this house

I looked into this caliber a while ago when I was thinking about getting one from CDNN on the cheap. This is the same conclusion I came to. Great rifle, good caliber, make sure you get plenty of reloading components for the caliber cause it's been dead the whole time.
Posted By: NMSSHOOTER Re: TC icon 30TC - 01/03/13
Are the components available commonly or is it a hard to get item? I've tried to do alittle research but been working a lot and not found very much info on it.
What is the parent case?

CDNN has a ton of loaded ammo for 25 bucks a box and hornady sells the brass. You can rechamber this thing as well or rebarrel it.

IMHO, to reiterate, it's a fine caliber. Nothing wrong with it. It's just a marketing head-scratcher. As if anyone was asking for yet another .30 caliber hunting round -- especially one that requires their proprietary powder blends to achieve its advertised velocities.

Absolutely no one (to my knowledge), other than Hornady, is producing brass or ammo for the .30 TC. I'm not sure, but I'd be surprised if anyone else is producing dies for it either.

My only concern over the long haul would be brass availability and a poor selection of dies, etc. If you reload, stock up. The good news is that you should be able to buy cases of ammo from the initial production run fairly cheap, as the demand just isn't there.

Will a .308 reamer clean up a .30T/C chamber?

Are the ICONS not made here?
Posted By: Swampman700 Re: TC icon 30TC - 01/04/13
If by here you mean in the US, yes they are made here.
Posted By: Buzzsaw Re: TC icon 30TC - 01/04/13
Found two of them today, slightly used $550 each.

What does the 30TC match up with? .308, 300WSM?
Posted By: n8dawg6 Re: TC icon 30TC - 01/04/13
.308. the Hornady data for it mysteriously has it making more velocity with the same or less powder. they do load the factory rounds hotter than a typical .308 factory round. the hype was that it was closer to the '06 than the .308 while staying in a shorter case.

gotcha thanks n8
Posted By: NMSSHOOTER Re: TC icon 30TC - 01/05/13
Done alittle more looking about it and I can buy RCBS dies so that is a good thing. I think I gonna look at it on Sunday if everything works out. Guess if I trade on it then $100 should have me in business, dies and 3 boxes of bullets. The guy says he has 2 loaded boxes and a couple once fired brass.
Posted By: NMSSHOOTER Re: TC icon 30TC - 01/05/13
Forgot to ask, has anybody played with the superformance powder much? I have only reloaded a few 300wsm with it and didnt get consistancy I wanted
Posted By: hurley Re: TC icon 30TC - 01/05/13
if you reload you can use 300 savage brass

IMO, it would be a really complicated way of owning a .308 Winchester, since that's essentially how it performs without Hornady's magic powder. Just buy a .308 Winchester if you don't have one, life will be a lot easier, or if you already have an '06, don't even waste your time. If you used some RL-17 in your 308 or '06, the .30 TC couldn't touch either one of them.
