Did some mule deer hunting with a group of friends here in Wyoming. The ol .243 Win got a work out but that rifle always delivers.

Ron took this buck at 485yds. The buck never took a step.

Next up was Mike and he made a great 285 yds shot on this buck bedded in the cornstalks. Buck did get up to his feet for a 35yd dash with a busted shoulder.

The other Mike was batting cleanup. 350yds and DTR. grin

Great hunt with good guys.
Those are nice mulies.

What does your .243 weigh?

Travis
Nice bucks..
Like always! Way to go John! Another pile of animals for the VLD.
Will a 56' Win Varminter in .243 shoot the 105 vls's ? Im pretty sure its 1 in 10 twist. very best
Mr Burns have you ever tried the 115's yet? My .243 with a 7 twist is a little heavy for humping the mountains but fields it would do fine. I have 500 of Berger's hunting VLD bullets to try. Thought I might try them on pronghorn one of these days.
Thanks guys grin

I have never tried but the factory Rem 9ish twist always seems to work great. I have my doubts but no experience with a 1 in 10.

Not in the 243 but a friend has used them with great success in a 6-284.
What's not to like about .243's and hunting muleys:) That last buck is a dandy!! Congrats to you.
Nice bucks and nice shooting.
Awesome bucks! Thanks for sharing.
Thoughts on the VLD vs the A-Max (105grainers)
Nice bucks John!

Are you guys hunting out of a helicopter or something? How in the heck do you find three awesome mulies?

Sweet shooting and some really nice deer. I'd love to hear more details about the hunt. Public, private?
Nice bucks, nice pics. Congrats.
Nice shooting and great bucks!

Do you guide John or are these friends of yours?

Either way I am impressed.

You done much w/ the 95 gr VLD? I have a Sako-barreled Springfield chambered to 6-250 that really likes em w/ Hunter. Am thinkin I may need dials...
Nice bucks! Any of the 105s exit?
Great looking bucks. You gotta love the .243 cool cool
Very nice collection of bucks! Congrats!

Really nice deer! Hardly get to see even one like those, much less three!
Nice ani-mules!
Nice deer!

The ol' 243 shines again. I thought it wasn't big enough for Western big game.
Me too , I thought ya needed a 300WM to shoot mulies @ that yardage.
Great trio of bucks! They are some great looking animals! Great shooting as well! Way to go!
Thanks again guys. smile

Just friends.

Never have used the 95gr VLD.

I have not used the .243 105 AMAX on deer. I have used the .22 75gr AMAX and while it worked the AMAX does expand quicker.

The VLDs terminal performance is so good and it has a higher BC than the AMAX, so for me it is a simple choice.

Private ground and a limited quota area combined with favorable weather conditions. The stars all aligned. grin

Sweet shooting boys. Those are some fine deer. Love the rifles too.............
Congrats on some nice mulies.
John,

Was the the "hunting" VLD or the yellow box regular VLD?

It's nice to hear you had a good hunt with some of your friends.

Take care.
