Why not a .300 H&H?

Well,looked on Gun broker and Guns international,the prices for a used .300 H&H was more than I wanted to pay. Found a cheap Pre-'64 for $1350 and that one was re-stocked. From there is the price went up. There was a Remington 721(?) that is just "ugly" and just could not bring myself spending money on those.

We have a couple 722s in the house, both real shooters�.but borderline in the looks dept.

Yeah,they accurate and do the job,they just do not appeal to me.

Woody, in both instances, one cannot improve upon perfection. Only one other cartridge falls into that category, and that would be the .375 H&H

Looked at the online Winchester catalog,the RMEF .300 Win it's a Shot Show special.

I just checked it out. Usually the SHOT show guns are kinda nice�.but it doesn't say H&H anyplace on it��.

Well,although it's not an .300 H&H,still going to use it. Something tells me it'll still kill an deer,elk or whatever even without the H&H stamp on it.

Have a 6x42mm Leupold just waiting for it.

They are,have two of them a .243 Win and a 7mm Mauser. Both shoot very well and only the .243 has had a trigger job.

I can't fault you that�..especially on the Mauser. Winchesters are great too, but I still haven't figured out why all the hoopla about pre-64s�( course Im shooting an 80s model push feed, which is skookum�. )

Have a Winchester Super Express .375 H&H PF that's been reliable and accurate.



Also had a Winchester M 70 in a .300 H&H PF back in the mid-90's and traded it for something else. That was a mistake.

Push feed Winnies are gonna be the next 'big thing'�.

I've had both 300 H&H and 7x57 in Ruger #1. Wish I still had the 7x57.

Here's one of my 7mm Mausers. Winchester M 70 Featherweight and a Leupold 2.5x Ultralight with Talley lightweights rings.
