Why not a .300 H&H?

Posted By: elkhunternm Re: Ingwe & RevMike - 01/25/14
Well, looked on Gun broker and Guns international, the prices for a used .300 H&H was more than I wanted to pay. Found a cheap Pre-'64 for $1350 and that one was re-stocked. From there is the price went up. There was a Remington 721(?) that is just "ugly" and just could not bring myself spending money on those.

Posted By: ingwe Re: Ingwe & RevMike - 01/25/14
Agreed on the Remingtonbut if you are going to get a .300, there is only one

Kinda like 7mmstheres only one... wink

721's might not be the Kate Upton of rifles, but damn do they work. I have one in .270
Posted By: ingwe Re: Ingwe & RevMike - 01/25/14
Agreed on Kate Upton, and if a guy could find a Rem700 Classic in the .300 H&H that would be skookum.

We have a couple 722s in the house, both real shooters.but borderline in the looks dept.
Posted By: elkhunternm Re: Ingwe & RevMike - 01/25/14
Yeah, they accurate and do the job, they just do not appeal to me.

Woody, in both instances, one cannot improve upon perfection. Only one other cartridge falls into that category, and that would be the .375 H&H grin

Not set in my ways, just suffering under the burden of being right all the time. wink

No kidding. The only thing Salvage beats in the Mossberg 4x4s. sick
Posted By: elkhunternm Re: Ingwe & RevMike - 01/25/14
Looked at the online Winchester catalog, the RMEF .300 Win it's a Shot Show special.
Posted By: ingwe Re: Ingwe & RevMike - 01/25/14
I just checked it out. Usually the SHOT show guns are kinda nice.but it doesn't say H&H anyplace on it. grin
Posted By: elkhunternm Re: Ingwe & RevMike - 01/25/14
Well, although it's not an .300 H&H,still going to use it. Something tells me it'll still kill an deer, elk or whatever even without the H&H stamp on it. whistle grin

Have a 6x42mm Leupold just waiting for it.

Elk, maybe you should have begged Geedubya to part with this one.

I did a lot of shooting and killing of game with a .300 Win.

But then I realized the error of my ways, and got an H&H. whistle

They are, have two of them a .243 Win and a 7mm Mauser. Both shoot very well and only the .243 has had a trigger job.

You do know that a bunch of gunsmiths have .300 H&H stamps? .300 perfection is just a rebarrel away.

You should also be happy that Rommel and I have a pro-LE bias because of K9otherwise Rommel would urge me to push you down and sit on you at the pig huntand I'm plenty big and fat.

Have a Winchester Super Express .375 H&H PF that's been reliable and accurate.

Also had a Winchester M 70 in a .300 H&H PF back in the mid-90's and traded it for something else. That was a mistake. frown

I'm thinking my 7x57 ought to marry a .300 H&H. With those two in the safe, with a M52 sporter, what more could a man want? Other than a Model 12?
