Looking for some input on whether most folks prefer black rings or stainless rings when mounting a black scope on a stainless rifle??

I have a Win 70 stainless and will be using Talley QD rings and bases (which are stainless and not nickel finish, so I think they will match well...). The rifle does have black fixed sites as well also.

I've had Ruger 77s before with the stainless rings that I did not think twice about mounting a black scope in, but it seems that most non-ruger stainless rifles I see go all black.

I'm leaning towards all stainless for the weather resistance aspect but don't want a "bling factor"

Fire away!!

Trying to match stainless finishes is a lesson in futility, and may end in a 50 Shades of Grey scenario.
Black on black.
I've had both silver and black and both look ok. I cannot stand a silver scope though.
agree there... Definitely will be a black scope, just cant make up my mind on the bases and rings..
Black.
Black. I had both and much perfer black. It seems to disappear into the scope and looks more streamline. The shadows under the scope are also dark and the black disappears.

This might help. See how the bottom of the Talley mounts kinda dispeer into the SS.

I like one black ring, one silver ring. Typically I put the black ring in the back, but you can adjust as needed.
One black, one silver, Nice touch...

Here is a pic I found online that shows the talley QD setup I am considering (albeit mounted on a Kimber...)

I do see the point about the black setup blending in better. One concern I have is the talley QD steel rings have sort of a dull blue finish and not a true matte black, so wont be a perfect match on a black scope either..

Thanks for all the opinions

They match close enough to a Leupold black . IMO

Nothing makes more sense than this...seriously. I put strong rings between a good rifle and a good scope, and don't worry about the rest. There's a lot of ugly rings out there which are perfectly color coordinated, but still ugly. Other things matter more IMO.
I don't understand any silver colored scope and/or rings. What's the point? Looks like crap!!! Mat-black rings AND scope.
No problemo.

I like silver.

I have several stainless rifles and all wear black scopes and black rings. I really do not care for silver rings on a black scope. I do not mind a silver scope-just don't want black rings on it.
Black , silver looks like bandaids wrapped around it to me.
Can't stand silver scopes or rings. For one thing every rifle, scope and mount maker seems to make their products in a different silver finish. You rarely get them to match. Black always looks good.
I had my rings/bases plated to match the rifle:

Now it wears a silver scope:

I liked it better w/ black.
Generally black rings with a black scope whether the rifle is stainless or blued. Don't own a silver scope.

Exceptions being if the silver rings come with the rifle, like they did with my stainless Hawkeyes and the Tikka. In those cases I just use their silver rings.

Even with the black scopes I've been known to match matte rings with a gloss scope or vice versa if that's what I had on hand.

Overall, though, it's not something that keeps me up at night. I'll admit that it used to, but not anymore.
Personal preference, but I definitely like matte black on matte black. But, I wouldn't say silver rings and a black scope look bad. Gets me to thinking though...I don't think I've seen a silver scope with black rings. Hmmm...maybe somebody could find a pic?
Aesthetics aside, from my POV if they are the proper base(s) for the rifle and the proper height rings for the scope, rings are rings and bases are bases. These days, I mostly use B-Square, Leupold, and Warne rings and bases and will, mostly, use whatever I have hanging on the pegboard above the workbench or whatever is least expensive or on sale. Matte finished rings and bases seem to be more common these days. Cabela's just closed out a bunch of Leupold QR rings in a variety of heights and finishes and I bought many in all of the available heights and finishes, except for the extra highs.

I hadn't thought about Scott's suggestion of using an inter-finish mix of colors; gloss, gunmetal grey, matte, or silver for Leupold options. But it would be something to change up the routine.

Black with black.
I always match the rings to the scope.
I've never given color of either a second's thought and typically just run whatever I've got on hand or is immediately available at the local dealer. If it's that objectionable Walmart is a stone's throw away with plenty of Krylon in stock. Lately, scratched and dinged has become my motif of choice.
Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I've decided to go with the black rings and bases on this one...
