Daughter Sandi just got a new Tikka compact so to the range we go. Now I'm a relic of the past and still believe in shooting in a barrel. Adjusted the length of pull to suite her and started shooting. First 15 rounds were with the old Hornaday superfomance 139 grain. Just shooting and cleaning between shoots. Rounds 15-17 using Hornaday GMX 139 grain, basically all cutting each other dead center. Raised it up 4 clicks (one inch) and 18 and 19 in same hole again dead center. Put in 2 Barnes 120 TSX BT, half an inch higher, dead center and same hold. Folks, this rifle has a 20 inch barrel and is a shooter. Very impressive and I am not a good bench shooter.

You have had better luck than me I got a 7mm-08 tikka t3 and tried some factory through it today 140 fusion best group I could get was 5 inches.

wow, something is wrong here. Tikkas don't leave the factory unless they shoot a 3 shot group under an inch. Make sure the stock screws are tight, if using the scope mount that came with it, I always replace them with DNZ mounts. Check the barrel channel to insure it is not touching on either side. Check and adjust trigger pull if needed. Try some different ammo. Just some thoughts. Between Sandi and me we have 5 Tikkas of various calibers and they are all shooters.

Coyote, it sure is nice going to the range to put your first rounds through a new tikka and feeling confident of the results before you even pull the trigger.

It sure takes the work out of searching for a great shooting load.

I've got 2 tikkas thus far, a 270 lite and 223 superlite with the 8 twist barrel.

Both rifles shot anything I loaded under 3/4 of an inch, and most loads bullet holes were touching.

Coyote I got it home today and took it out of the stock adjusted the trigger then torqued to 35 inch pounds on the stock. I put it back in checked and paper slid down all the way till it hits the pressure points.

pseshooter. Make sure it's clean. I have a 243 that was shooting poorly (for a Tikka) and I cleaned it and was amazed at the results. Sounds like something is bad wrong in your case though.
