Just stopped in to the local Sportsmans Warehouse. Rem 700 ADL package on sale for $414 ( $379 after rebate) Then they throw in a fee air gun- supposed to be a $130 value.
I left with a .223...I feel like such a rifle slut...
Now all I gotta do is get rid of the cheap scope and stock, and trigger!
I really miss the Whorehouse here in GB. They shut them down a while back. Even tho we ended up with a Cabela's - I like SW better.
Don't worry about getting rid of the bolt handle. That will come off eventually...Then you can just throw the whole thing away.
That only happens on the .270s....the bolt handles can't stand the stigma that comes with being gay.
I had one come off on a 223....
it must have thought it was a 270....
Silly Rifle, Tricks are for kids...
That only happens on the .270s....the bolt handles can't stand the stigma that comes with being gay.
Ingwe,
Pull the recoil pad and put this in the butt stock
Take this to the crown
And you'll almost have a Winchester M70
Don't forget bedding tools:
Ive already made modifications...anybody need a skookum 4x12 Remingtonian Scope?
Offer that up in the 7x57 shooters forum and someone there is bound to buy it......
We have a forum for that?
Why am I not Forum President?
I'm guessing you'd do better with the air gun killing stuff than some do with their Winchesters.
How come I never find these deals?
Post the pics when you get it put together

That falls right in line with your ridiculous theory that little calibers work on everything. You are one of those puzzies that can't handle a man sized rifle too. I can see where you'd do much better with an air rifle. Powered by a lot of hot air and smoke blowing..
Someone with their head in their azz has a tendency to not find good deals. Just sayin..
See, everyone was having fun, but the c u n t from Oregon shows her ass yet again.
What happened in that state? Did a retard breakout and bang all the women in a 200 mile radius?
Drinking today?

Nope, just continually impressed by the level of dumpphuckness that comes from Oregon.
BSA, JeffO, Ringy, Firenuts, Spanky etc etc. It's quite impressive.
Well, it used to be God's country there, now it's California exodus stop number one.
For sale: $130 shipped!
So, you buy the air gun and get a free sps 700?!
Glad to see you got a free air rifle- That's take up where your 7X57 leaves off...
Don't make fun of the air gun. The price was right, its supposed to shoot a blistering 1260fps, and may come in handy at the gates of the Norman Bates Squirrel Motel...for as long as it lasts.....
Rough crowd today.
Last chance, my
free NIB air rifle to you for only $130!
May trade for a big stash of quality 130 or 140 gr .277 bullets.
Post the pics when you get it put together
I have no real idea what Im gonna build on it....and I know better than to ask these guys....

Yeah...and I'll throw in the Uber imported scope for free!
BTW: Nice to hear there is
something quality related to a .277.....
6 is awful big, dontcha think?
Not according to my wife.
This is why I don't ask you guys.....
Not according to my wife.
You said it.
Bob who?
Not Isaac....?
I have to start being nicer to him....
Yea him, he doesn't think 6 is too big either, most especially with a black tube.
OK...I guess if you aren't being nice to him, I don't have to be either...
The fun stuff about this 'What do do with it' is you'll know when a F A G comes along. They'll be the ones suggesting a 222 Remington Magnum.
Yeah...that aint happening. That one and the Fireballs have been ruled out already.
What IS wrong with you people from Oregon?
.300 Blackout, then you'll have the bolt action .30-30 that people always desire.
Get a can for it and really be the coolest guy in the neighborhood.
Mike
Im already the coolest guy in the neighborhood....
That reminds me, say hey to Derby Dude.
7mm TCU would be cool.
ELK wrote a nice article about one a few years ago.

I don't doubt that

You aint gonna believe this, but I ran into that MoFo everywhere I went a week ago....felt like I was stalking him....minus the restraining order...
He's you're neighbor, right?
7mm TCU would be cool.
ELK wrote a nice article about one a few years ago.
Mike
It doesn't need to be anything that big. I shoot deer with a .223 and I don't want to drag anything bigger than a deer....
I am actually thinking of a lightweight .222 at this point.
I should only change my mind about 11 times before I actually do something.....
He's you're neighbor, right?
My neighbors are afraid of me....
222 Remington, 1-8" twist, Winchester M70 Featherweight barrel contour, in an Edge stock, barrel 20-21".
Should be under 6.5 pounds with a 2-7x
You know me, Im too cheap for all that...just ordered my first McMillan.....and for sure a deuce doesn't need a 1 in 8 twist... ( I know...it'll work with everything...) That said, I'll be perusing the classifieds and see if theres something I can use
I see stuff there that gives me ideas...
I do know that NOTHING sub 35 caliber needs a 1-14" twist.
Dats for damn sure! I especially hate them on a .22-250 and they are limiting on a deuce. We just put together a heavy deuce for my shooting pard, using a fat Remmy take off Bbl with a 1 in 12
Even that was a HUGE improvement, especially when we stuck 55 grainers in it.
If I end up buying a new barrel, it'll be fairly tight, if I use a take off, it damn sure wont be a 1 in 14...

I'd rather youz guys pick on Texans!

I'm was gonna say something on a 204 case.....but I know the OP is too cheap to want to spend on the dies.
6 is awful big, dontcha think?
Maybe a .177x45. Did you get any free pellets....err....bullets....with the airgun??
I sorta got the can't helpits for a 6x45.
222 Remington, 1-8" twist, Winchester M70 Featherweight barrel contour, in an Edge stock, barrel 20-21".

I vote for a 1 in 8" .221 Fireball. Ingwe would again be unique, having one.

Hold on.....let me get another beer and I'll try not to disappoint.
Comes with a much better stock than the 223!
I'll go $125 to Texas.
What Mr. Cool doesn't say is his neighborhood is full of low-income housing.
I would build a fast-twist .204 and shoot heavy bullets, to prevent you from having to watch through the scope during the instant innocent wild animals die.

Gots some .22 pellets to throw in if you'll consider a rebore.
Does the air riffle have a metal triggerguard?
So, you buy the air gun and get a free sps 700?!
Wildcat it and go with the 458 x 45. Shoot 405's @ 12 fps....and that rebated rim, mmmm, mmmm

Yep that happens every 100,000 or so... and I've had a bad Zeiss before too... and a leupold and .....
but as long as I keep awya from a 270 I should be ok.

Great article. I'm going to build a 7TCU rifle to match my Remington XP100 silhouette pistol. Be a good use for a 223 ADL.
The 6/222 has been pulling at my coat tail lately. A 6x45 is cheaper to do, but the lil 6/222 with a 80 or 85 gr ball is still stout enough to have more energy than a standard 223.
Ingwe
Why not go REALLY big and do a 257 Kimber?
Real stunt shooters prefer the K Hornet.
And leave the trigger. When it snaps off, you can still fire it with the safety....
.222 Rem and put a 18" barrel on. Then top it off with a Leupold 8.5-25x50mm.
Suppressor and 16" Blackout.
Travis
Suppressor and 16" Blackout.
Travis
That sounds dirty.
Something UBER! Anything really fast and trade the action for a crf one with a good safety! (SM and dumb Don need not reply to this thread now!)
If dumb Don doesn't respond to this thread, I wont get a chance to use my " The Stupid...it burns!" poster
If you wanna be cool you're gonna need to fling some sub-sonic heavies.
Travis
Sell a couple rifles in the classifieds and buy a suppressor.

300 BKT = 300 Blackout = Modified 223 case, 220 HPBT, and a little powder....to go subsonic.
.222 Rem and put a 18" barrel on. Then top it off with a Leupold 8.5-25x50mm.
Im thinking a 22" deuce with a Redfield 2x7.....

Good luck selling any of it. Last time I tried to sell SPS ADL stocks and triggers.....I struck out. And barrels from a SPS are hard to sell as well.
Nope, just continually impressed by the level of dumpphuckness that comes from Oregon.

In our defense, Spanky
is a Kalifornia transplant...
No .20 VarTarg?
Sometimes I think that may be the ideal small-rodent varmint cartridge, but haven't quite, uh, pulled the trigger on one yet. Did get to shoot a loaner for a while a few years ago, and was pretty impressed. A 32 at 3600-3700 or 40 at 3250-3300 would work pretty well, and all you have to do is run a .221 case into a FL die.
That only happens on the .270s....the bolt handles can't stand the stigma that comes with being gay.
You seem to have
a lot of experience with .270s lately...
Still think the 27 Fireball is the way to go.
Or he can dig up some of that money he buried in the yard and get a .22 PPC.
Theres no money buried in the yard...
Could call it 27 Furball.
ingwe,
I second the lightweight 222. I just got one back from the smith and have been playing with it a little.
I was going to post all the details one I get it all dialed in.
It is down to 50gr TTSX, 55gr GMX, or Sierra 65gr Game King.
It is a 700 action, a Montana rifle barrel that I picked up here in 1:9 twist. Mcmillan edge stock that I found on here also.
Mine will have a vortex 2-7 on it after I get done with the load work.
This is really gonna change things up, 27-222 Montana Furball!
Theres no money buried in the yard...
Well then, cut open one of them there sofie's pads and get a .22 PPC. Or at the least a Leupold 2-7x.
No PPCs for this kid...I have serious questions about their sexual orientation.

Dat sounds about right! Except Im not a Vortex fan, so will probably go Redfield.....and Im too cheap for an edge, but I have a Ti takeoff that is homeless.....
It might get a 6x36, or plain old 4x too. The vortex came on a 358 Win I bought awhile back. The rifle went down the road, but the scope stayed.
I do not do any type of varmint shooting, but I like to chase coyotes and Mt lions here in SD. It will also be real easy keep in the truck, on the 4 wheeler, or in the tractor when working out at the ranch on my days off.
I could have been happy with a Ti takeoff too, but the Edge had been sitting around looking for something to do.
He's so cheap - bet he'll end up shooting 223s out of it.

IIRC Jim Carmichel used a 6mm PPC to win a Benchrest match in 2008-09. You too could be cool like Jim.
Also,Jim likes the .280 over the .270. Other than that little "glitch" Jim is one cool dude.
Ok,I was wrong on Jim Carmichel winning a Benchrest match in 2008-09. Here is what he did. Jim set a new World Record in March 2012 in the Light Varmint Class Benchrest Rifle(10.5 lbs max.) The new record is 100 yd aggregate group average size of .1441" for five five-shot groups.
Got the info from the Nosler Reloading Manual #7 on page 167,which is the introduction of the 6mm PPC.
I vividly remember reading JC after he took over at Outdoor Life. He was talking up the 280.
I remember looking at the 280 and thinking, huh, it can't be too bad as it does the same thing with 140gr bullet as the 270 does with the 130gr.
Then continued using the 270 for the last 30+ years.
Ingwe
Why not go REALLY big and do a 257 Kimber?
That'd be a cool way to go. Like CT said about the 6x45, I've got the canthelpits for a 257 Kimber. I could happily get by with the 6x45, though.

Dude......I can get that size group any day of the week by only firing one shot out of a deuce.....better groups, more ammo economy....
He's so cheap - bet he'll end up shooting 223s out of it.
I have actually thought about that. Believe it or not, I have only one .223 right now, and enough ammo loaded to burn the barrel on it easily....I need another .223.....
Come on ingwe, you know it is not about neeed!
Went to the range today to work on my 222. Settled on the load will start another thread later tonight about the non magnum 222.
I have a archery deer tag to fill, and we are losing daylight here. Fortunately the stand is only a few minutes from the house.
Cool....gonna use the new deuce on the deer?

That would be the Savage_99 way of shooting.
Here you go, don't need no stinkin' 22 caliber magnum, AI or any of that manly stuff for stunt shooting.
My donor came from the WalMartian house, not the whorehouse.
Here is a couple of 3 shot groups.
Some 5 shot groups for verification.
Originally a Remington 700 SPS 223
Montana rifle barrel picked up here,1:9, fluted, 22" and 0.575 at the muzzle
Mickie edge picked up here.
Action skeletonized, timney installed and set at 2 lbs.
Talley LWT's
Went with Leupy 2.5-8
Weighs 6.5 lbs empty
Tried 50gr BT's & TTSX's, 55gr GMX's,& SP, and finally the 65gr Sierra Game Kings before I found a good load.
But I think it may have more to do with the BL-C(2) instead of the Rel 10x.
I have no idea what the velocity is, I will get it checked someday.
This is going to be a truck/ranch/4 wheeler/tractor rifle. I do not do any varmint shooting as in dogtowns. But I like to hunt coyotes, Mt Lions, and shoot coons and skunks at the ranch.
Oh yeah, it is legal to shoot turkeys in SD with a rifle, so that may have to happen at least once.
CRS, that'll git er done.

old Remingtons that ---->>>>>
1956 300 Sav, Bedded, trigger adjusted. (Still have, peep-sighted deer kill'r)
243 SS Mtn Guide. (Elk Ivory's group) (Sold, deer wounding SOB rifle!)
Or even a bone stock Savage 12 BVSS (Sold, too accurate? WTF!)
" donor".....
You're welcome....
Im liking that! Is that barreled fluted?
BTW, your beater truck gun is a great deal snazzier than
any of my 'best'
Yes, the barrel was fluted strictly for modest weight reduction.
The first 222 I owned was a an absolutely georgous BDL. Way too nice for me to use/abuse. So I sold it to help fund this.
Give it a couple of years and it will not be snazzy.
Going to range this morning to dial in the leupy and then it will be off to the ranch to get some work done. There was a coyote out there over the weekend...maybe he will show himself again.
" donor".....
You're welcome....
I've been skool'd. Thanks
Seriously, have you considered just painting it - faux custum? A few years ago it was all the rage!
No...I tried that...did a zebra striped stock and caught so much flak for it I had to undo it or turn in my man card......then of course everyone thought it was cool...
As for the spelling, Ive always been a spelling Nazi, and am now a retired Prof. I have no students to correct anymore...soooooo.....
I can't help myself.

CB had this Giraffe pattern; it'd be swell on a 27-222 Furbee.

Nope. Don't have any .270s....about the only thing thats suited for.
Nah,the color pattern is all wrong for a .270.
I have an airbrush, send the stock to me.
I only own eight 270's......
Fortunately, none of them have a rainbow paint job.
Eight, dang,I've got some catchin' up to do!
Plus both of sons own one.
I have an airbrush, send the stock to me.

Im afraid if I sent you the stock for a leopard print job that it would come back entirely different.....
You know...like when you order at the drive up line at any fast food joint. You order this or that and when you get home and open the bag....SURPRISE!
oh come on, trust me
BTW,
I passed a buck last night while archery hunting that would have been superb for the dink-a-thon thread.
Maybe tonight he will not be so lucky,
I must be getting old, season opens here in three days and I have made zero plans so far to go deer hunting...
Not a good sign.....
It's all those pictures of Africa on the other forum that has you distracted.
You are so experienced you don't need to plan.
When you go deer hunting, the deer flock to you begging to be tagged by the infamous Ingwe.
Maybe we should get Ingwe a golf cart?

To go stealth, one turns off the Sirius radio.....to go Ninja you need an electric cart.
Don't you need 4WD? Hard for electric to pull in 4WD. You probably need the cooler option as well...it replaces the passenger seat where Elk would sit.
Yep. Both 4WD and the cooler option.
This is my next option. 2-Leg drive will go through anything.
Nope. Thanks. I'll go for technology.
If I wanna see that many nogs and guns in one place, I'll go to Ferguson, MO.
I don't even know what to say.
In my case, you're right!! I'd have to open up the "I Wasn't Always a Priest" file, and it's best left locked away.
At least you are repentant....not a claim I can make!

No need for an airbrush, Ingwe.
Leopard print hydrographics dip kit
Does not need to be a dink. Notice the natural curve of the roof. Any size deer would fit! Hook some ratchet straps up front and in back and he would be in business.
I though about the hydrographics, but think he might be too thrifty.
