Hint: Carry spare optic fibers for front sight.
Posted By: elkhunternm Re: Before & After - 06/20/15
Recoil will knock them out?
Posted By: ingwe Re: Before & After - 06/20/15
It possible..but they are relatively fragile anyway...bump them on a rock, or a truck gun rack etc.

Otherwise, you look Buffalo ready!

Sight screws loc-tited?
Posted By: elkhunternm Re: Before & After - 06/20/15
The iron sights are loc-tited in. The others are hand tight.

Yup,buffalo,lioness and elephant. If'n I don't buy a .416 Rem/Dakota/Taylor/Rigby. whistle

Spend the money on a hunt, not another rifle....that one will work fine...
Posted By: elkhunternm Re: Before & After - 06/20/15
Yup,that would make sense.

That's what I have been telling him. wink
Posted By: ingwe Re: Before & After - 06/20/15
Yep. The cost of a Dakota/Taylor/ Rigby is the cost of a buffalo.
Posted By: NMLady Re: Before & After - 06/20/15
Gee, great minds think alike. I keep telling him that.
Posted By: elkhunternm Re: Before & After - 06/20/15
Yup.

Hunt something smaller. grin

Not sure which would hurt less, pulling the trigger on that, or a bovine stomping. I've experienced the bovine stomping but will not experience a 375 RUM.

Cape Buffalo re-define stomping....

Not often, you are more likely to get run over by a bus but the results are similar.

That was actually a staged photo.

When it happens for real the guy looks more like a smudge than a guy.

A rhino can gin up a pretty good beat down:

Posted By: SLM Re: Before & After - 06/22/15
Ya, pretty hard to get stomped to death without any torn clothing.

Once a year? Less? more?
Posted By: Blacktailer Re: Before & After - 06/22/15
Seems like it's been running 2-3 deaths per year that I am aware of but there are no doubt more that are not publicized as much because they are folks who are not tourists or prominent in the hunting industry.
When some of the locals get stomped the news doesn't travel far because it is a common occurrence.

Williams front? Who made the rear?

I have a Williams Firesight on the front of my M94 and a Foolproof on the back. I've heard others talk about the f/o being fragile, but I've not experienced it (yet). However, Williams does off fiber optic tubes as part of their repair kits, so it must be somewhat common.

Nice work on that rifle. Who installed the sights?

welcome to the .375 RUM club! is that an SPS or XCR?

here is an "after' of my .375 SPS. I cut the barrel to 23" and dropped it into a B&C. I have to scoot the scope all the way forward like that to avoid contact with my noggin.

Toad,I think it's SPS. Gonna use 300 gr Swift A-Frame in it.

that'll be a handful. I can tell the diff in recoil between the 235 gr. TSX and 260 gr. AB, both at max pressures.

BTW if you use QuickLoad, you have to change the 'weighting factor' from 0.65 to 0.5 to get results in line with reality

Toad, gonna replace this stock with a laminated one and that should bring the weight closer to 9 lbs or so.
