I am looking to buy one for my youngest boy. I am interested in the opinions of those of you who have owned, or shot them. Thanks.
If you do, go here and get one of the stainless fluted ones.

I bought the walnut stocked version in 6.5x55 a couple of years ago – my first Tikka. I do like the rifle, though it was fussier working up loads than I was expecting based on all the praises I’ve heard from other Tikka owners. It does shoot quite well with one combination I’ve tried, but seems to be somewhat inconsistent. I’ve been looking at the bedding of the front recoil lug area and scratching my head a bit. The action seems to be very sloppy in the stock with lots of room for it to move around. I’m contemplating bedding it to see if that improves consistency...

Thanks for the info. If you bed it, I'd be intereted in knowing how it turns out.
I've thought about shimming the lug, kinda like how M39s were shimmed to their stocks. Might be an easier and more reversible way to start.

I picked up a factory walnut stock for my T3 a while back from CDNN. Noticed that the fit was loose compared to the synthetic. To make myself feel better, I bedded it (Devcon Steel Bed) from in front of the magazine up through the barrel shank. Now, disassembly and reassembly are very repeatable and the barrel is always centered in the channel. I didn’t shoot it with the wood before bedding it but the rifle is very consistent with either stock. YMMV of course.
