Home
I had just sold off my last M70 classic stainless in 300wsm along with dies and ammo, and what do you know I brought another one home. This time a New Haven/Olin M70 Classic laminate in 300wsm. My LGS had it on the trade-in rack for $399 with a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x50. They knocked off tax and I walked out with it for $400 even. The rifle is in great condition, but looked like it had never been cleaned. Man was it dirty. I completed a full tear-down and gave her some proper attention. I've already sold the Nikon and ditched the 2pc base. I put a couple coats of Howard's on the stock and touched up a few areas with cold blue and now it looks pretty dang good!

I'm thinking of putting a Warne 20moa Mountain Tec rail, 30mm rings, and a SWFA 12x42 MRAD and see how she likes some heavy Bergers. Weight is right at 8lb with no scope, and I think this is a 1:10 barrel.

You did good.

Wow that is pretty good deal
The only reason I own a 300 WSM is because of one of those deals you can't pass up. I found a SS 70 with a Burris scope that I was able to get for $400 also several years ago. I didn't do quite as good as you since someone had ruined the tupperware stock. I picked up one from CDNN for $50 that I used for a while.

It's been a gradual project, but it is now in an Edge stock with lighter bottom metal. With the Leupold 3-9X40 on it weight is 7.5 lbs.

I still haven't figured out why I need a 300 WSM, but I like the rifle.
That's a money maker right there. Nice rifle. How much are you going to sell it for???

I might hang on to this one for a while! The last one was a nice SS Classic, but I didn't quite warm up to it. Being blued, this one feels warmer, some how kin to a pre-64 (I've never handled a pre-64, so I'm sure if I have I would be comparing it to a late CRF). I'll scope it and use it this season, but these days my safe is full of heavy tactical LR rigs. I was just thinking about putting a Bartlein 3B on it, midnight blue cerakote, and in a McSwirly A5 or Gamescout!

Shoot it first. You may not have to change the barrel. Every Winchester model 70 300 WSM I've had has shot extremely well (sub moa).

VERY good, indeed!
Nice rifle you have there. Heavy enough to take the sting out of the .300 wsm. Nice job cleaning it up👌

I don't need one technically. But, I love all three of mine.
