I have a lot of overlap in my rifle battery, between the 250 Sav, 25-06, 270 Win, 7/08, 7RM and 308 Win (not to mention 30-06 and 45/70). Would you buy a 260 Rem if you got a good deal on it? Hard to justify anymore then about one of the rifles I already own.

No, but I would buy a 6.5x47.
Yes, it is an accurate low recoiling cartridge and you can get top notch brass for it. Having a 260 Rem didn't stop having a 6.5x55, 264 WM, 270 Win and 7mm RM showing up here

I am biased towards all 6.5mm rounds, if you reload hell yeah! If you don't, hold off for a 6.5 creedmoor, lots more ammo available...

I added a 6.5 X55 to see what all the chatter was about.
It's ok but it doesn't do anything the 270 can't.
When it's gone there won't be a hole !!

I had/have a 270 and used it for decades. One day a buddy offered to sell me his 260 Ruger 77 Compact model with scope for $300. I bought it for the wife, who said she wanted to hog hunt. Well, she lied. I went ahead and worked up loads and it shot so well, with little recoil, that I started hunting with it. Killed deer, hogs, and coyotes as well as the 270 did. I haven't hunted with the 270 in maybe 5 years. I consider the 260 to be a sort of '270 Lite'.
Why not? Most of the factory offerings are light, short, easy to handle and a good carry, low recoil, great SD so whats not to like? I might not pay retail and look more for the typical "new to me" quality pieces that I can buy right. 603's 77 compact would have me reaching for my checkbook at that price too.

Yes, I have the others and I bought a .260 for a combination of good performance, light recoil, good BC's for long range.

but if I was looking at a need, with the choices offered, the choice would be a 260 first, and a 7/08 as an alternative...

I am the same way. Considering a Creedmor as well but still will always have a couple .308s in the safe.
OK, here are the real facts as I see them.
#1` You have the 'ballistic range' already covered.
#2 you asked the question, so you obviously like some rifle you saw, and it happens to be a 260.
#3 If you like it, buy it!

When I build a new rifle or buy one, I am 100% sure I already have a rifle that can cover the same ballistic ground.

You are so close in performance with the cartridges you have, when using the proper projectiles, with similar BCs, I would think you would be better off taking the money you would have spent, and upgrading what you already have.
Most guys I know have numerous rifles that are "almost" what they really want. I normally advise them to consolidate the bunch of "almost" rifles, and get one or two that are "Exactly" what they want.
That might mean a McMillan stock, Nightforce, whatevertype upgrade on a certain rifle. Most guys grab the same rifle every time anyways, so you might as well grab your "exactly what I want" rifle instead of fiddling with the ones that you are not really satisfied with.
I'd dump that 270 off at the pawnbroker and replace it with a 6.5x284--take the trash out sort of thing.

Would and did. Even though I already had a 6.5x55 and have since added another 6.5x55. In addition to already having a .257 Bob, .25/06, .270, 7mm08, .280, 7x57, .30/06's, .308's, .243, 6mm and several other larger than .30 cal. rifles. Methinks I may have contracted a terminal case of Looneyitus.

That's the best advice right there. If you think you have an actual "need" for another rifle, you're playing stupid first-world games. If you simply "want" one, then follow Mackay's advice above.

I've owned/used a great .270 since the late 60's and not only did I buy a .260, but I got it a 6.5 CM to keep it company!

And I have been VERY happy with my 260 Remington (Remington 700 VLS with 26" heavy barrel) ever since.
It is a splendid Deer, Antelope and Coyote cartridge, I have found out!
I owned at the time I bought my 260 Remington ALL of the calibers you mentioned above (and at least a dozen more!) except for the 45/70!
Again I am extremely happy with my 260 and the performance of that cartridge.

Shot many calibers. Owned many. Can say that when I had my 6.5-08 built the year before Rem launched the 260 It was everything I expected. Enjoyable. Accurate. Deadly.
Overlap yes. Need no. Fun absolutely. No regrets. They all work.

I have all three but no 260. Guess I better save up some coin. The only 6.5 I'd like better than a 260'would be the 6.5-06. But I have not had a 6.5 since I sold my 264 back in the 70's. But I still have a 6.5 mold.
I wouldn't go out of my way to buy a .260 if I had any of the OPs calibers, but if I found a rifle I liked and at a good price, I wouldn't skip it over just because it was chambered to .260.

Yes, while I didn't go with the 260 I did get a Tikka T3 Hunter in 6.5x55 when I had a 257 Roberts, 3-Sako 308 WCF (2-L579 and 1- AII Hunter)and a BSA 7x64mm in the safe.

Absolutely, How are you stocked for 6.5 bullets ?

It would depend on the deal.If it was cheap enough I would. Otherwise NO. I have a featherweight 6.5x55 same as 260 and I have since gravitated to the 7mm08 even though I have a 270, 308 etc.. The 7mm08 is an absolute drill, doesn't recoil much, is easy to load for and it shoots somewhat flatter than the 6.5x55. 7mmo8 gets 2850 with 140s, 6.5 gets 2650 with 140s.(Maximum accurate load in each). Good luck in whatever you do.
I did. I have a 270 CZ - love it but went synthetic - stainless Abolt in 260- the all weather excuse worked!!! After changing out the factory stock to a B and C it has become my favorite and what I reach for most often.
Makes a bit less sense if you already own a 708 though.
I've hunted with to many cartridges to list, but I bought a Model 7 when they came out with the 260 and it has turned into my favorite whitetail round. Mild recoiling but hard hitting.
