Looking at a slightly used Winchester XPR in a 270 Win. But i dont need another 270. Would like a 6.5/06. Called Winchester to see if they would supply a barrel or if they knew if another take off barrel would work.

The technician said "its proprietary and we dont wamt you swaping out the barrel"

" Ok well then will a gun smith have that information? " "They can figure it out"

So what I got out of that was "here are the calibers we offer, if you dont like it we wont help you rechamber it"

I'll call Shaw
Would take 5 minutes for a smith to measure and find the pitch and twist. No sweat

Wow, a Tikka T3 clone, or what?

In person they are well made and balanced. Slick action and nice trigger
Might be a Tikka clone but I've yet to find a plastic fantastic that felt as svelte as a Tikka's action.
From a distance looks like a big upgrade over a Tikka T3. I need to handle one , I like that they offer a 26" barrel on some of them
I watched a couple NIB XPR 30-06s sell recently on Gunbrokers for under $250.00 and thought the that the market was wrong. So, I shopped around and picked up a .308. With only 75 rounds through rifle, I can already tell you that my rifle is going to take some load development to make it a MOA rifle. To bench mark the rifle's accuracy, I ran a little factory ammo through it and the results were piss-poor. However, I have put up a 165 gr. Interlock over Varget load that is yielding a consistent 1.5" three shot group with a repeatable POI.

But what really got my attention was a conversation I had with Winchester's parts people in Arnold, MO. They told me that don't have any parts for the XPR and have no idea if they will ever receive any. Well, I also cannot say much good about Winchester's product support for the XPR either. CP.
Just read a review. Not as bad as I thought. Whatever its virtues however, for some it will become crap as soon as they figure out it's made in Portugal.

I was cause I don't deal a lot with Winchester. Most of my long arms are from Savage. I had a bad experience with Remington and a 799. Their customer service sucks.

That's what I was thinking.

Got over them before I ever got started. Some have a good use for them, no doubt, but not me.
The worst rifle I ever owned (past tense) was a late 80's Winchester M70. POS from the word go. I now have an excellent M70 FN-made 7x57. I also have some old M700s that are excellent. None of the new generation of cheap rifles appeal to me. I have enough Weatherby Mark Vs in various chamberings to do me. Forget the offshore and junk rifles. Happy Trails
Looks like an uglified AB3 {hard to do but they managed} with an adjustable trigger.
Just checked Gunbroker. Not one bid on the multitude listed.
No surprise. Ruger's gained quick attention for out of the box accuracy with little to no work needed to attain it. Perfect for the hunters who take it out of the case in October or November, maybe shoot it at the range, hunt the season with it, and it doesnt see daylight again for 10 months.
A gun that is a struggle to get 1.5" groups is going to quickly gain reputation as a failure, no matter the price. In general, the buyer of this price point isnt someone who is going to tweak handloads for maximum accuracy
They should keep that one a secret and not sell it. It's hideously ugly.
