In light of the threads asking about McMillian stocked T3s, and not wanting to hijack their threads, I would also like to see some Tikkas in McMillian Stocks, specifically the Sako Classic pattern. As far as that goes, I'd like to see pics of Tikkas in any aftermarket stocks.
Indeed...and with comments about such too would be great.

Exactly
Don`t have photos of it.. but if you have large hands like me, the Sako Classic will not fit you. My pinky does not fit the grip.
It does on the Sako Hunter though.

My only experience with McMillian is Remington Classic and mountain rifle Stocks. How does the Sako Classic compareto these?
Really liking both stocks a lot.

Is this a Sako Classic pattern? Really digging that!!
Don't believe it is, if you go to the McMillan website they usually have these in stock and have then listed as a Hunters Edge for a Tikka. Makes for a nice combo.
Hunters edge is the same as the compact, but in edge fill.
Sako classic is a bit different, but I like it maybe a little better. It is slightly larger than the compact/Hunters edge.
Any Sako classics in stock anywhere?
I’ve been lurking around here for a while. This seemed as good a time as any for my first post. T3 in 6.5x55 in a Manners EHT, clear with OD webbing.
https://ibb.co/dayD7mWell, that didn’t work. Trying to figure out how to attach a picture, not just a link.
Went to the Manners and McMillan websites. Are you fellows really paying 500+ bucks on these aftermarket stocks? Do they make that much difference?
Here is my T3 in a B&C. Rifle is Cerekoted. 260 Rem. Puts 125 NPTs in .5" on bad days. I've shot more than one 3-shot single hole groups.

What scope is on the rifle?
Yeah, I think mine was close to $600 when it was all said and done. Took almost a year to get it after placing the order. It was worth it to me but I’m positive that it wouldn’t be for others. Mine came in at 26 oz. the factory T3 stock that came on mine was 28 oz. So it’s hard to justify the expense based on that. The T3 stock felt cheap and hollow. My Manners certainly doesn’t. As far as improvement on accuracy goes, I didn’t really give the factory stock much of a chance. I replaced it after 100 rounds or so. And they were all my loads, so I was doing load development the whole time. That being said, the best group I shot with the factory stock was around .850 and my best group so far with the new stock is .425. That could easily have as much to do with load development as the stock. But when you hold it you can tell it’s top notch.

A couple to add to the conversation.
Tikka’s in McMillans
I think this may be what your are looking for...This is my wife's rifle. Tikka T3x Superlite in 270 win, bedded in a Olive Marble Sako Classic that I snagged off of Stocky's Stocks. Talley Lows, and a 3-9x40 VX-2. Puts 140 accubonds into 1/2" groups with a heavy dose of H-4831.
The only "negative" I will say is that as much as I love the sako classic (I also have one on my Weatherby 375) the forearm grip is a bit thick. I always thought it was fine.... until I started shooting a Hi Tech Specialty Stock which as a much nicer forearm contour.
I want to put a McMillian on my T3, but the darn things shoots so good as is plus there really isn’t the weight savings that you would normally get swapping a factory stock as the T3 stock is pretty darn light as issued. I can’t force myself to spend the money. The price of a new Edge stock would buy me another gun.

Did you do the bedding on the stock? Did you use the factory recoil lug or does Mcmillan supply a steel lug? Thanks in advance

The McMillan does come with a steel lug in the stock. The one in the picture that I got from stockys was cut very well with no major gaps or anything like that - very good fit. I take all my rifles to my local smith for bedding. He bedded the lug area and the tang.

DId your gunsmith bed over the lug so it is sandwiched between lug and bottom of reciever or did he remove the lug attach it to the receiver with clear epoxy and then bed the lug into the stock?
He beds over the lug and leaves it in the stock....Seems to work pretty darn good, this rifle will shoot better than I am capable.

Apparently there are 2 ways to skin that cat. I know the B&C T3 you have to bed over the lug for it to work and the A7 roughtech I had same deal as well.
Thanks

Kampfeld spiral fluted it.
Anyone know the actual weight difference between a factory synthetic stock and the edge?
Here are mine
Factory stock with a limbsaver recoil pad 1 lb. 14 oz.
McMillan Hunters Edge 1 lb. 8 oz.
B&C Sporter 2 lbs. 2 oz.
McMillan Sako Hunter Standard Fill 2 lbs. 4 oz.
Just what I was looking for! Thanks Foreman!

Yes my thinking as well. The T3X stocks don't have that hollow sound and weigh around 29 ounces. McMillan Edge is around 22 ounces. I might get creative with some rattle can options in the near future.

Ok, if I got this thread right the T3 stock was as light as an Edge. The T3x is seven ounces heavier, albeit sounds better.
An Edge costs as much as a whole dam Tikka.
If one had a T3X, he could lose a half pound by finding an older T3 stock, for under a $100.
So, after a decade of people bitcching about these plastic stocks, people will start seeking them out.
What a country.
Next thing you know, people will start collecting those fugly Ruger skeleton stocked rifles.
Nope, ya missed something somewhere. T3/T3x factory stocks have never been as light as the edge fill McMillans. But the weight DIFFERENCE isn't huge ... 4-6 oz or so.

Was thinking of this, but it was about a Manners. Oops!
Eerily similar to a sugar coated turd.... no tikka deserves a McMillan....
People drop those POS R700s in McMillians all the time, a Tikka action instead would be a nice step up.
Does Brown precision make a Kevlar Pounder for the T3?
Gamescout
Sorry if the picture comes in big, couldn't figure out how to make it smaller on my phone
The problem with the Gamescout is that it is exactly opposite of what it should be from the grip back. LR stocks should have a negative drop- i.e. The butt should angle down to the action to help with straight line recoil.
I for one appreciate all the eye candy Mcmillian Stocks. Some very nice sticks on this thread. I’m going to keep shooting mine as is thru deer season and probably get one ordered in time for next year. I bloodied my new T3x today so all is good.
Got an edge fill Sako Hunter on the way
Nice rifles fellas. I kinda like the Tikka stocks as a shooting stock but they aren’t very appealing. They do grow on you after shooting them a little though.

Well, if the stock fits and the rifle shoots, there isn't much argument left to make. Still found at < $600, the T3x is a great value right out of the box. Consider it a tool, nothing more nothing less.
New 6.5 creed in a Hunters Edge. I’m kind of digging it...
That looks awesome Marty - that camo looks much better in your pictures versus the one on the website.

Kimber7man, I really like your Creed in that Hunter's Edge.................
Thx guys.
Weighed everything - the Tikka with factory stock and 3 round mag is 6 lb 6.5 oz.
With Hunters Edge it is 6 lb 3 oz.
That camo/stainless combo is awesome!
These are both lefty stainless T3's in McMillan Sako Hunter stocks.
45% olive, 30% black, 25% medium gray. Sporter fill, 2 stainless studs, pillars. 280 Ackley
45% medium green, 30% black, 25% medium gray. Magnum fill. 2 stainless studs, pillars. 300 Win. Mag.

They now have one less as of this morning
And don't forget you also get free shipping with the special sale!
Santa code hasn't worked on any stocks I've added to cart. I must be doing something wrong.
It needs to be a stock they have in inventory and not already on sale. Won't work on any except the "ready to ship" is my understanding. They were already out of m70 edge for LA when I got the email :-(
SO the Kuiu stock for the T3x is 694 minus 25%?
Any work on my end other than paying for it?
Is the black stock for about $75 less the exact same other than just color?
Looks great just trying to convince myself to spend the $$.
Not sure why the link stopped working.

Any of these aftermarket stocks reduce the recoil effect by a noticeable percentage? My T3x 270 kicks a lot!
Yes, by better stock shape, better pad, and/or additional weight
Would you guess 10%, 20, 30%? Your estimation is important to me. It will help me to decide to to keep the 270 or trade for a less recoiling caliber. Thx for your help!
Edge stocked
I was planning on restocking my T3 in 300 wsm, but it's shooting so well I'm not going to touch a thing. I mean 5 shots at 200 yards under 1.0" who messes with that?

Have you tried installing a Limb Saver Air tech recoil pad? I did on my 300wsm and it made a quite noticeable reduction in felt recoil for me and my T3 is a 300wsm, which kicks a little bit.

Am I to understand correctly $694 for a stock? Way braver than I, that's over $100 more than I spent for my SST/SYN RMEF model T3. I guess I should've married better.

Mighty nice Gamescout. Will McMillan inlet that for the CTR factory barrel and CTR DBM?

The gamescout is slightly too narrow along the bottom for CTR Bottom Metal. I put my CTR in a A3 and it is very similar.

I just dropped my CTR into a Game Hunter inlet for the factory DBM, also had the barrel chopped to 17". I'm really liking this setup so far.
I briefly had a Manners EH1A, it just felt a little chunky and heavy to me. The Game hunter feels slimmer and more handy to me, and of course it's lighter without the adjustable cheek. I haven't used a Gamescout or A3.
My 30 Nos build on a Tikka is just about done. Gonna go in a Manners EH1-A
Hi Mackay,
Could you please share the details on that T-3. Does it have a side mounted front sling mount and what about the red magazine. Is it an aftermarket itemor did you paint it to keep track of different loads?
Thanks and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Scott
What kind of camo is that jacket?? I love it!

Scott,
Sorry for the late reply. I did not see your post.
The side mounted swivel I installed, as I run 2 point slings such as the VTAC, same as on my work M4s. This allows me to be totally hands free when I need to, and allows me to have the rifle hang free, or to the side as needed. It makes for a very practical setup. The red magazine is an older factory 5 round offering from Tikka. I bought a number of 5 round mags both in Blue and Red. I have a 6mm Rem T3 as well (re-barreled with a Lilja barrel), so I keep them separated that way if both guns are on the same hunt. Otherwise I simply take two 5 round mags with me when I am hunting.
Here is my CTR in a Carbon Fiber Game Hunter - Excellent fit and finish.
