Does any one know where I can find Remington 6.5X55 brass?

I've looked everywhere and cant seem to find any Remington brand. Midway has Nosler 6.5 x 55 brass on sale and Natchez has Winchester 6.5 brass on sale as well. Good luck
Switch, save yourself some aggravation and invest in several hundred LAPUA 6.5x55 cases , it is worth the extra money.

What is rim diameter. on the Lapua brass? Looking for Remington as it is .473 where as most 6.5 X 55 brass is .479 which may cause ejection problem in my push feed Winchester. Bolt face was for a 473 carteidge

I thought I saw something recently about Remington no longer supplying reloading components for handloaders due to them focusing on producing factory ammo.

So it may pay you to change brands or buy Remington 6.5x55 factories and then reload the cases.

Rim thickness can also be an issue. A friend quit using Norma 6.5 Swede cases in his Savage rifle he uses for F-class. He claims the thicker rim broke the extractor on his rifle because it was to thick. The Norma rims are thicker, but I'm skeptical that the extra thickness would cause the extractor to break.

US brass will be .473, for the most part. Not sure about Nosler. Norma, Lapua and European brass will be .480. The European brass will not fit a standard 30-06 shell holder. It seems most US suppliers, Winchester and Remington seem to have abandoned the Reloader market. Norma and Lapua is better brass however. Seems the US manufactures took the easy way and went with a .473 case head with 6.5X55 Swede...

To the OP: I've owned a Model 70 pushfeed for more than 25 years, and have used Norma, Federal, Remington, PMC, Winchester, RWS, and Lapua ammo and brass with no problems. Here's another vote for the Lapua brass.

Remington is the only thing that will consistently in my Model 70 Featherweight in 6.5 x 55, which was
rebarreled from a 30/06 barrel in its previous life. Its an 80s push feed.

Some I picked up marked PPU worked fine also.. Win hit or miss...

its always an ejection issue...pushfeed won't pick up the rim on non .473 bolt face brass..

when I have loaded the Winchester brass I have, 473 bolt face shell holder won't work..
shell holder for a 30/30 worked just fine on that tho...

This has been my experience with a 1986/87 pushfeed Winchester 70 XTR FWT that I bought new in 1987. It cycles all brass and factory ammo without issue. I've never shot it much, only a few hundred rounds, still working with the first lot of 100 pieces of brass that I started with 31 years ago.

The 6.5x55 Lapua is one of their better priced cases. With typical mild Swede loads you can get upwards of 20 loads on the Lapua cases. I usually chuck Winchester or Remington at about 8-10 loads.

The push feed should handle them just fine. If not I would get it fixed so it would, usually this would just require polishing the extractor. Sometimes the domestic brass in addition to the .473" rim are undersized at the case head too. This is not a good situation and at the least will be conducive to shorter brass life especially if full length re-sizing.

Nosler I am not sure of. The original lots were from Norma with the larger rim but there are several new providers now.
