I’m supposed to have a new tikka t3 with 10twist here Tuesday. Gonna try and get a few rounds loaded for it to try out ASAP.
Between me and my buddy we have several different options as for bullets and powder.
Anyone wanna share some pet loads that work good in the tikka?
As for use it will be a truck gun, targets of opertunity. Generally coyote or crows. I would also like something stiff enough to shoot a deer if the opportunity arose and nothing else was handy. Thanks

H335 and 50 VMax is a good one....

That twist, look at the 68 grain BTHP from Hornady, the 69 gr Sierra HP Match, or TMK....

Powder choices, any number of great powders work in the 223, especially bolt actions.

Friend of mine had good luck with 60's and Varget, but I hated the way it metered. That stuff was stellar with 80 Amax though. Mines a 1:8.

Ive had a couple tikka .223s...still have one. I dont want to sound flippant but load development in a Tikka consists of putting ammo in it and shooting....tough to find another rifle that accepts so many different loads and shoots so well.

I load for 5 Tikkas in .233, but 3 of them are 1-8”.

The 1-10” models love the following:

50 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint (seconds from Shooter’s Pro Shop)
26.5 gr Benchmark
CCI400 primer
2.276” COAL, 1.881” from the ogive
3400 FPS at the muzzle

50 gr TTSX
26.4 gr TAC
CCI400 primer
2.180” COAL, 1.825” from the ogive
3230 FPS at the muzzle

No pictures of the BT targets, it got too boring. Max loads, safe in my rifle, work up.

I have a Tikka T3 .223 1/10 twist. My pet loads are:

50 gr Sierra Blitzking
CCI 400
26.4 gr Benchmark

69 gr Sierra Matchking (this was the heaviest bullet I could shoot in it and still stabilize - 1760' ASL)
23.2 gr IMR XBR 8208
CCI 400

62 gr Nosler Varmageddon FBHP
23.0 gr Benchmark
CCI 400

Thinking of trying some 64gr nosler bonded? Anybody have any experience with these bullets?

I have used them in an AR. Try somewhere in the neighborhood of 25 gr of Varget.
