What are your thoughts on Savage accuracy, and this setup in general?
Thanks,

What do you plan on using it for?

I've found Savage rifles to be accurate enough for me. I don't know anything about the scope other than it costs around $280. I think you could probably put the same package together for far less than their $1300 buy it now price, I'm thinking around $900 if you watch for deals and rebates. You can set the new 110 Predator with Accufit stock for $650 online plus get 10% back through the promotion with Savage thru the end of the year. So if you can get it for around $900 shipped I think you'd be okay, more than that I'd walk.

Things that would turn me off is the weight, you'll be over 11 lbs with that rifle very quickly, 8.5 lb rifle, 30 oz scope, heavy tactical rings, and add a bipod with sling and the weight keeps climbing. It's okay for the walk from the truck to the bench/blind, but not something I'd hunt out West with. For a $300 scope I'd probably go with something different, especially if you plan on turning the knobs a lot and are expecting the tracking to be on. There are proven scopes out there that track well in the $300 price range, they just don't have many options. Like I said I just don't know anything about Athalon optics.

Probably a very accurate rifle. My thinking is that isn't a great deal though. You could do better on a new one, and get a scope of your choice.
New w/ cheap Nikon scope: https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/92355/Savage+11TH+MOB+6.5+CREED+W%2FNIKON
My thoughts on savage accuracy: Damn hard to beat. The package as a whole: I wouldnt buy it. You can buy a 12FV cabelas exclusive for under $400, this time of the year, and it will be just as accurate. Then you can pick a different scope.

Savage is the best bang for the buck accuracy in the gun world. That gun is kinda high priced.

For $1300 a feller could buy a Tikkler and a SWFA and a bunch of ammo.

For 1/2 that price, you could buy a 12fv and a SWFA SS, and have a combo every bit as accurate as a Tikka.

No doubt, and very nearly as oogly😛.

Can't wait to see how this story ends. All kidding aside, that has to be the ugliest scope I've ever seen.
Yes it's ugly. Yes it shoots good... grin No seriously, the seller is really praising that scope. However, that combo looks like chit. If it were me, I'd email him and ask if he wanted to keep the scope and just sell the rifle. I'd offer him $380.00 for just the rifle..

Because of strides made in Ugly Technology in recent years, Savages are no longer standouts in that category. I've toyed with the notion of picking up a couple or three myself: the Hog Hunter, Scout, and that strange-looking lightweight job that's somehow compelling to me. How one might shoot was never a concern. I'm surprised by comments from others that sometimes they have functional issues; never heard that before.

Clock is ticking......
1899guy, why did you post about this Gunbroker listing in 1/2 dozen different sub forums? Were you genuinely interested in that rifle or just trying to pump up interest in that auction?

But you’d still have a savage.
