Call to order.

I picked up this well used, and somewhat abused, 700 BDL off the rack at a LGS for almost nothing. It wore a Nikon Buckmaster in cheap aluminum rings which all came off for a proper tear down and cleaning. The barrel is dated 1970, and despite the outward appearance, the chamber and bore look quite nice after a thorough scrub.

I had some old Weavers and a Razor LH 1.5-8x still in the box, so on they went. A hodge podge of sorts, but I quite like it. I’m thinking a Classic Edge in a unique speckletone is necessary. Then perhaps some 165gr accubonds?

Anyway, it is safe now, and will live out the rest of its barrel life with me...whatever that may be after all these years.

It is just like yours! You’re ahead of me. I have scope and mounts, but haven’t gotten it mounted yet. I have 150 Accubonds and 150 Barnes to try soon. It’s only 5 months until rifle season

I bought an ADL a couple years ago in great condition... Haven't shot it much.. A doe antelope and a doe mulie.. It is slated for some hunts this fall, and target shooting this summer.. Fun old guns..

My uncle was an iron worker, he bought each nephew a rifle when they were born, no two the same caliber. My oldest cousin received a Winchester Pre-64 270, me a post 64 30'06, next in line a Remington 700 280 Remington, the last 2 were Winchester 70s in 25'06 and 308. All were purchased from Leonard Brother's in downtown Fort Worth. Mine was stolen in the early 80's, I don't have a single picture of it or any of us as a group with our uncle.

You know, a fellow could make a nice find on an 06 like that and hunt the continent-if not the world...and not need another rifle for big game his entire life. I know a rifle looney shouldn't talk like that but it could be done.

I traded a post 64 M70 in -06 for one of that same vintage in the mid 80's. Put it in a custom syn stock and a 2-7 Leupold Compact. It was my only hunting rifle for almost 20 years. It put a lot of meat in the freezer.

My granddaughter would love that one. Her favorite colors are pink and purple and that one has both bases covered. 😀

I'm a sucker for a nice 30-06

I didn’t need the one I bought, but for 400.00, I could not pass it up. I doesn’t look like it was shot very much.

When J.C. Penney decided to quit being a real department store and sold off everything on sale that didn't pertain to the yuppie crowd I bought a Remington M700 BDL 30-06 for $110.95 NIB. I also bought another ADL, also a 30-06 for my stepson for IIRC $99.95, and two 30-30 one an M94 for $85 and a Marlin 336 for $95. All four rifle NIB. Besides the good sale price my wife worked for JCP so there was a 10 percent discount on the sale price. Just couldn't turn them down at that price. My stepson didn't like his rifle so we sold it off and a friend bought the Marlin from me. Still have the M94 which now has a Williams receiver sight and the BDL only has has that shiny bowling ball paint job given a nice satin finish via judicious use of 0000 steel wool. I think it looks a lot better now that the shine is gone. YMMV. I also had a Decelerator pad installed not too long ago due to arthritis in my right shoulder.

I took my 700 bdl out yesterday I was going to photograph it and try to sell it because I want a ruger no 1.Well I picked it up and snaped the trigger a couple times and put it back in the safe I want to keep it.The ruger no 1 money will have to come from something else.

I have a pair of styer 3006 one green stock the other black. both shoot really really small groups. thinking of putting a suppressor on the black one. it is a back up to the first green one. there brother is another steyr in 9.3 x 62. I found out a long time ago if it isn't broken get a few more to be safe! all will out live me for sure. I volunteer to be the Vice President of this truly needed club , decated to the worlds finest round, the one and only 3006 !

I got off my ass, mounted a scope on mine, bore sighted and ready to go to sight in.

My first bolt action big game rifle looked just like that one though it was a 270 and had no recoil pad. Bought it in a Gibsons store in 1973. I will however be maintaining two 30-06 rifles for the duration.

You can bust on the pressed checkering, and the old style bolt.

I'll take the nice slim stock, and the bolt locking safety any day.

I like the slim stock too, I like that pattern of checkering too.

I bought a Rem 78 in 30/06 in 2006 just because it seemed the right thing to do!

I have four 06’s. Two 700’s, H&R all correct Garand, a Sako that slam fires (needs to be repaired).


I almost bought another Sako, but talked myself down.

You could buy one .30-06 and hunt everything in North America without missing a beat.

I've loaded from 110 grains up to 220 grains. And 240s are still available.

I've taken it hunting for things from ground hogs, to elk and allot of things in between.

I've shot it from 0-500 yards, and an experienced shooter could double that.


I'll always have a .30-06 in the safe and ready to go. It goes on most trips as a back up cause there's more "interesting" options available.

Them boys at the deer lease say, “ If you don’t own a 30-06, you ain’t a real American”. I had to go get one after they said that.

I've got one Century Arms built on a 08-34 Brazilian. Looked at a pretty nice Rem 760 today for $299...may have to go back for that one.

That's a great price on a 760, especially if it's nice.

Local Gun Shop had a 30/06 Browning for sale for $250.00. I got down there pretty quick.




Note how far back that Stryka scope is mounted. I have a Brother in Law who is an Azzhat and took most of my fathers guns and sold them to go to Jamaica. It is set up as a loaner for him.

I didn't own a 30/06 until I was 30 years old. I now I am thick with them. Its all from the rescuing!

More than one of those goggle-eyed innocents has been recovered from the local landfill and dragged here...

Anyone who doesn't own at least one is a communist.

For me its the perfect back up rifle.

I like to have dedicated rifles for each type of hunting that I do.

But the r700 in '06 can pretty much do it all if need be. So for me its been the perfect back up rifle, as well as a loaner rifle for some friends and family when they needed something

I have a Flaig's custom Mauser 98 in 30-06. I think that this rifle with 150's is just about perfect.

You should be reported to local authorities for theft!

No joke. Depending on the glass, that's at least $8-900 under market value. I'm up to my ears in 30-06's and money is tight as hell right now, but I would have bought that rifle in a heartbeat.

As Finn Aagaard put it, “The reliability of the 30-06 on most of the world’s non-dangerous game is so well established as to be beyond intelligent dispute.” Put that cartridge in one of the best factory Mausers ever build and it's a winning combination.
