Been awhile since I took some rimfires shooting. Nice not to have a bruised shoulder at the end of the day. Which one do you think shot the best with all ammo?

i liked that brief period in the late 80s/early 90s when there was an interest in marketing high end rimfire sporters. the kimber 82 and the remington 504-S come to mind. the 504 ended up having some inconsistency issues but it sure did handle well. never did get my hands on an 82, i guess they got priced outta the market. i got a cz 455 and ultimately decided the balance didnt work for me. my cz 452 im still on the fence about ... it has better wood, metal, and balance than the 455. wish i had gotten one of those clearance 504-S’s and spun the lottery wheel

if i had to guess, the 521-t and the 452 did pretty well in your group

My guess, in order of accuracy (best to worst):

- Kimber
- CZ
- Remington
- Winchester

I was expecting the Kimber to win, but the CZ ran away with it.
The CZ's bolt is rough, trigger not so good but damn it shoots. 5 shoot group at 50 yds looked like 3 holes touching.
The kimber is smooth with a great trigger. Shot very well, just not like the CZ
The 521-T shot with the Kimber, but really prefers standard velocity ammo. It was the first gun my Dad gave me so will never go anywhere.
Tiny little sights on the Winchester, but damn its fun to shoot those shorts.

If you haven't taken a rimfire out for awhile, I highly recommend it. 2 of these have Weaver rimfire scopes on them. I believe I heard they arn't going to make them anymore. I highly suggest getting one while you can.

Best with all ammo? Guess it wasn't that lovely 62 petit, but that would be the one to keep the Red Ryder company out on the porch. Are we all complicating ourselves away from that?

Never understood what made a more expensive.22. Most every $200 and under .22 I’ve shot was crazy accurate.

The CZ’s have wretchedly stiff crappy bolts and even worse customer service. I’d rather have 2 or 3 non spendy .22’s.

The CZ only needs a lighter trigger spring and it will feel great... maaaaaybe a light polishing if you are unlucky.

Then, put a bit of polishing grit or oil on contact surfaces and cycle the bolt for an hour.

Smoooth.


Or just shoot a brick of 22lr..

My current CZ, the third, is a SS 455. The trigger is just fine as is. While it's not as accurate as my 453 was, the ergos are better, and the crappy strap-steel trigger guard looks better in matte SS than matte blue. I might replace it someday with a DIP, might not. Same goes for the stock. A checkered walnut one is only about $125, but this one works just fine. A lot of rifle for $400, I think, with plenty of options if you're into lipstick on your pigs.
