Surely this has been done. Will it drop in, other than opening barrel channel up?
Don’t know why it would not work. Vanguard is a Howa.
I think this would work...Just open up the barrel channel a little....👍....Hb
Other than opening up the barrel channel the Vanguard will drop into the Alpine/Bansner stock. If the Vanguard is a youth model it should drop in.

I used a heavy grit sandpaper to open mine up. It's still easy to go through the outside layer of the stock, but I've noticed no ill-effect. This picture shows the 2 areas where the channel was the tightest:

It's worth it. Before pic with the Vanguard factory stock:

And with the Alpine stock:

Great! Thanks for the feedback.

Pics are very helpful, sockpuppet. Much appreciated. is that a 24" barrel or 22"? Curious for weight comparison....
No problemo. 24" barrel. I've thought about cutting it back to 20" but haven't bothered to do so yet.
Thanks, that was my guess. I'll be looking for a deal on either the Vanguard or a Howa. Kinda prefer the Howa due to 22" barrel. Would like to do 7-08, but they aren't twisted right, so probably do a Creed.
Keep an eye our for the Vanguard youth models. Sometimes they can be had at a good discount and I believe they will drop right in. Pretty sure they come with 20" barrels.
I have a ranch land compact that is need of an Alpine stock. “LW” action and pencil barrel. Just send it my way and I’ll drop it in so it won’t have to be modified.
