Ordered a Remington model 7 hs ss and picked up a razor 2-10x40. I'm out of service for work during Talley's business hrs. Can anyone tell me which rings to buy? I'm pretty set on the lw but I may be swayed in another direction

I would go with the lightweights in low. Have them on 4 different tikkas and have had nothing but good luck with them. You are buying a lightweight rifle and scope for a reason, no sense in adding anymore weight then you have too.

Extra lows might work but you sometimes run into trouble with the back of the scope having enough clearance for the bolt handle so lows are a good compromise. Should work fine with that scope.

I just put Talley lightweight low's on a Model Seven. Scope is a 3.5×10×40 leupold and I've got exactly 5/32" between objective bell and the barrel. I think Talley's are 1/8" increments between sizes.

Mmm... I think Talley rings go up or down in 0.100" increments. With 5/32" clearance on the front end, that should not be a limiting factor to drop down to super lows. However, going to super lows may present an issue with the amount of fore and aft movement of the scope to adjust eye relief. Or, interference between the Talley LW bases and the scope itself. The set up below, I had to file a relief notch on the rear base to clear the power adjustment ring, and a chamfer on the front base to clear the objective bell. But, it fits, and the scope is "there" when I mount the rifle...

You're right it is .100 but in my case not worth the cost to replace for .100. On the other hand had I known beforehand I would've gambled with the super low's.

Talley responds to e-mail inquiries quite reliably.
