I just got my CA Mesa and replaced the MB with the MC. It went on finger tight, but I don't want to worry about it vibrating loose. Do any of you guys use a drop of Loctite thread seal or a dab of Teflon plumbers tape? I will use electric tape pver the muzzle to keep snow out.
Jim, I put anti seize on my threads of the Ridgeline. I like to be able to take the brake on and off. With the anti seize on it, it doesn't get as bound up with carbon and such.

Congrats on the new rifle.
Thanks pard. What brand of anti-seize did you use? I may or may not ever use the brake, but my grandson might, some day. I too want to take it off by hand and watch for rust, crud, etc. The barrel is stainless, this cap looks like chrome moly, ha. I am so thrilled with this rifle....snow? rain? sleet? No big deal! Up close, in timber? Handy dandy and powerful. Across the canyon to the next ridge? Its 'shame on him" time! ha. I could have done all that with every rifle I ever had, lol, but they were far too pretty for me to enjoy treating that way. Heck, I even treated my M16 with loving tenderness, and I knew it was a piece of crap! smile

I wonder if the shooters choice All Weather grease I have ( thick grease) would keep it from vibrating off, or come off when I put in and out of a gun scabbard?
I get mine from NAPA but I’d imagine any good parts place will have it.
I am familiar with Permatex stuff. Do you put it on liberally and then tighten the cap with pliers? ( Please bear with me, I'm detailed/OCD on my rifles kind of guy, lol)
You have an old can of spar varnish? Take the lid off and get a bit of the thick goo off the inside of the lid. It worked before Loctite came around. Maybe it could still work and you may just own it already. Don't buy what you already own. Be Well. Rusty
I just brush it on lightly...
Thanks Pard. I picked up a small tube of Permatex today. Clerk too said to smear on all the threads.

If you do that, you will end up wiping up quite a bit of that will extrude out at the barrel/brake junction. I put a light coat on the first 25% of the threads. That is usually more than enough.
Hand tight is just fine. Turn it to the point it’s snug back it off a quarter turn then jerk it back tight real quick and you are good.
I just "bumped" into it with pliers, had it padded with paper towel, I did have to wipe off the excess, ha. No spar varnish pard, but that's a good Tip! smile
